Clearblue ovulation test advice

I'm 37 and ttc my first child. I have just started using the clearblue digital ovulation test. We dtd this morning at around 7am but I have only just tested at 12pm for today and have had the first solid smiley face. Do we need to dtd later today or is tomorrow best? Sorry I'm clueless. I just want to get pregnant so much and don't want to miss this first window of opportunity! Smile

I usually ovulate the day I get my static though many people ovulate the following day. I'd dtd both days just to cover it.

Thanks for letting me know. Think I will do the same. We agreed that I wouldn't tell him when it was a positive as too much pressure for him to perform. Wink I'll have to try and put my best poker face on haaaaa. Wish me luck! How do you know when you've ovulate after getting the static (just so I knowSmile)?

Ps I got 2 lines on the test. Is that normal for a positive result or should I just be looking at the display screen with the smiley face and not the actual test stock itself?

Good job on checking the test to. I used them for 4 months and got pregnant the month I pulled the strip too hard and pulled the whole test out. I had no smiley face but could see a faint 2nd line. We DTD just in case and I got pregnant.

Thanks ladies. I'll try and ensure we dtd either later today or tomorrow morning at the latest. I don't know what made me look at the test too but 2 very pronounced lines on it. One a bit darker (but not much) than the other. I suppose this is just what a positive ovulation test looks like. Let's hope the double lines appear on a pregnancy test soon.Grin

Cheapie ovulation test completely negative this morning. Anyone know what's going on? Sad

It's completely normal for it to go back to negative the following day, that just means your surge has passed. The surge can happen 12 - 36 before you actually ovulate so you have either already ovulated or are about to. I believe the advice is to stop doing OPKs once you have had your surge so just keep BDing for the next couple of days then you will have the 2ww. Good luck!!

@SMiles14 thanks so much. I was panicking that the cb test was faulty and I had completely missed ovulation. We've been dtd over the last few days so let's hope one of the little swimmers makes it. Smile

No worries, it is super confusing! I only get a very short 'peak' on my internet cheapies, if I don't test twice a day I can miss it completely. I am starting CB digitals this month because (I think) they are better as they detect 2 hormones and its only once a day. That sounds like perfect timing, fingers crossed!!

@SMiles14 if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been ttc? Wishing you the very best of luck!

We have been trying since April, had one pregnancy but ended in MMC at 12 weeks in July so not been trying every month if that makes sense? this is second month back ttc after the mc, and second month using OPKs. We fell so quickly the first time which is frustrating but it shows we can get pg at least. We are hopeful it will happen again for us soon. How long have you been ttc?

Loula82 · 20/09/2019 12:05

@SMiles14 so sorry about your MMC. That must have been so difficult for you. I really wish you all the very best. I was ttc for about 8 months but decided to stop in May as it was becoming too stressful for both of us. This is our first month trying again. In the beginning I thought it would be no problem after stopping the pill and would probably just take a couple of months. How naive was I! I was using cheap ovulation tests but have just switched to clear blue as at least with that the solid smilie shows I'm definitely about to ovulate. I find it hard to know with the cheap ones if it's a surge or not.

@Loula82 thank you Thanks yeah I was the same, you assume after years of being told you will get pregnant if a boy looks at you that it will be easy don't you! 😂 I have also had troubles with cheap OPKs, hoping the clear blues will help me this month. I get quite a few days of darkening lines (but not as dark as control) on the cheapies and just end up squinting at them for ages and second guessing!
I just want fw to hurry up now, on cd 4 and usually O around cd18-20 I think! Hope you have a speedy 2ww!!
