Started Soy Isoflavones today ..........

I started taking Soy Isoflavones today (CD3) in attempt to bring my Ov back from CD29 (last cycle was 39 days).

Is anyone else taking, or thinking about taking, SI?

My 1st dosing schedule will be:

CD3-7 : 120mg, 120mg, 120mg, 160mg, 160mg.

I’m starting reasonably low, so I can assess the effects. If I find SI helpful, and side effects are tolerable, dose can be increased up to 200mg max, in increments.

I’ll note down any effects I notice from taking SI here, (positive or negative), for anyone who might be interested. xxx

I took my 1st dose of 120mg Soy Isoflavones about 2hrs ago.
Feeling a bit headachey, but no other side effects that I’ve noticed so far.
I’ve been a bit nervous about potential side effects from SI, so I’m hoping they’re minimal. xxx

I have taken SI for a few months, made ovulation a bit sooner which was all I needed and had no side effects.
Good luck

Oh I read somewhere that it is better to take it before bed to reduce the side effects felt. I'm thinking of starting it too, if af shows up on Sunday.

coconuttymummy · 18/09/2019 13:33

@Daisypod That's what i need. Long cycles are the pits, and CD29 is way too late to Ov.

@Blaanotnow I read that too. I was just eager to get started and I was nosey to see what the side effects were like. LOL - im strange like that!!

Other than feeling a bit headachey and tired I haven't noticed anything negative so far, and its about 6 hrs from when I took my dose. I'll definitely be taking them at bed-time from now on, though.

I might actually go for the 120mg, 120mg, 160mg, 160mg, 200mg dosing schedule that I see a lot of people use, if I still feel like i'm tolerating the SI in a couple of days.

Fingers crossed for some little Soy babies!

Cd4: So, i'm at the end of my 2nd day on Soy Isoflavones.
I took 160mg today as I've decided to go for a stronger dosing schedule of 120mg, 160mg, 200mg, 200mg,.
I didn't have any side effects today, whatsoever, so that's good, but it does make me wonder if SI is doing anything at all! … We shall see! lol x

The above dosing schedule was meant to read: 120mg, 160mg, 160mg, 200mg, 200mg. x

Give it time, maybe after you up the dosage or complete the course you will feel different. When are you due to ovulate? I want to know if you feel more then. Has it affected af?

coconuttymummy · 19/09/2019 20:01

@Blaanotnow This is the 1st cycle I've tried SI, and i'm due to take my 3rd dose tomorrow morning.

Last cycle was 38 days and I Ovd on CD29. This ended in a Chemical. Hoping for an earlier and stronger ovulation, and shorter cycle this time. x

@Blaanotnow It's not affected my AF, so far. It's CD5 tomorrow, taken SI from CD3, and I still have a light AF as we speak.

One thing I have noticed is that im still quite bloated, and it's usually going down towards the end of my AF, but that could be because of my chemical pregnancy, or that I've been comfort eating more than usual (likely!), not necessarily due to the Soy Isoflavones.

I haven't had any headaches today, despite upping my dose and taking in the morning, so the common side effect of headaches only lasted 1 day with me.

I'll keep popping back and let you know how things progress as it may help you decide whether you want to give SI a try or not. Happy to be a guinea pig!! hahaha xxxxxxxxxxxx

I used Soy iso way back in 2015 and concieved my son first cycle with them! It takes my body over a year to get back into ovulating properly after stopping breastfeeding. I got my first ever positive OPK in a year of trying with them and fell the same cycle. I had no side effects on them either, but they definetly worked. Good luck all of you!!

coconuttymummy · 21/09/2019 09:57

@NotQuiteUsual That's a really positive testimony to Soy Isoflavones. I really hope we all get similarly positive experiences. xxx

CD6 - So, I've taken my 4th dose of SI and increased to 200mg for the final 2 days.
I still have no noticeable side effects, so i'm relieved about that.

I'll report back with the most important info ie. how it affects my ovulation! Fingers crossed for a good, strong ov at an earlier time than CD29, this cycle.

What I forgot to mention in my original post is that I took Vitex last cycle, and I really don't think it suited me. I had an anovulatory cycle up until 2 days after I stopped using it (CD27) and then finally Ovd CD29, with a 38 day cycle.
I cant prove it, because I could have ovulated late by some fluke, even, perhaps, if id continued taking the Vitex to the end of that cycle, but my instincts tell me that Vitex wasn't suiting me. I'd have to take it for another 2-5 cycles to be sure, and frankly, at this stage, im not prepared to gamble up to 6 cycles to find out for sure! At this point, im happy to wave the Vitex goodbye!
I did, however, get a BFP, but it was CP.
I'm hoping that Soy Isoflavones are better suited to my hormone/cycle profile. I have reasonably long cycles (the cycle before last was 33 days) and fairly late Ov, so it's fair to suppose that SI may be of some benefit for an earlier, stronger ovulation. There's only one way to find out!!!!!!
I've taken my 5th dose of SI this morning (I did: 120mg, 160mg, 160mg, 200mg, 200mg, in the end, as I didn't notice any side effects other than a mild headache on the 1st day), and i'm eager to start peeing on OPKs! Haha. I'll start OPKing on CD8, which is crazy early, but i'd flip my lid if I missed O!!!
Fingers crossed for a OPK+ well before CD29, this cycle!! xxxx
