Chemical pregnancy?

Not good news for me, I’m afraid.
After getting my BFP (big fat positive (pregnancy test)) yesterday morning (CD38 - 10DPO), I started bleeding last night - red blood, medium flow, just like AF.

I’ve still got a very faint BFP (big fat positive (pregnancy test)) this morning (11DPO), but I don’t think it’s darkening at the correct rate, so I’m guessing this is a Chemical pregnancy?

How long before HPTs show a definite BFN (big fat negative (pregnancy test)) after a Chemical Pregnancy? I was expecting them to have dropped too low to see by this morning.

What do I do? Do I need to book in with my GP.?

These are yesterday’s faint BFPs for comparison.

Sorry @coconut, that's what it seems like to me. It's happened to me twice this year. I think have a chat with your GP if you feel you need to. The 2nd time I did talk to mine, they just said it's very common, especially at my age (gee, thanks for reminding me). Flowers

@LassoOfTruth That’s what I thought. 😭😭😭

How old are you? I’m 38. Xxx

I'm 40, trying for our 2nd. I had my DD at 38. Bit less pressure for me as I already have a child. At least we know we can fall pregnant! GP said this happens usually when the pregnancy wouldn't have been viable anyway. No reason to believe it won't be plain sailing next time.

NikolaPiccola · 17/09/2019 09:45

It is why it's not recommended to test before your period (even though we all do lol!) Over 50% of pregnancies are chemical and most women don't even know that they were pregnant when it happens, they just assume it's a late period. Sorry hun! Fingers crossed for next time.

I had a chemical last month I went to my GP had my bloods taken after my period started showed a faint positive, blood test a week later confirmed it had gone. Xxx sorry if this has happened to you too xxx. However just got a positive this month, hopefully a sticky bean this time. Sending hugs.

@LassoOfTruth @coconuttymummy 3 CPs for me since May. I try to think that it's at least a sign that I can get pg, but it's horrible just the same.

People who say not to test early,-although I tested early so knew for longer than I would have otherwise, I still had BFP on the day and day after AF was due so I'd have found out anyway. For some reason it's really started to annoy me when people say "that's why you shouldn't test early". I know I'm overly sensitive about it though. Hmm

Not sure what to say, I’ve too had a chemical, but I’ve also heard of people bleeding during pregnancy... the test from today does look darker to me. I would ring the dr but I’m not sure what they can do at this stage!
All the best Flowers

Thanks ladies for all your support, and sorry to hear many of us have been through the emotional rollercoaster of early losses. It’s a real kick in the balls after the joy of BFPs... but, like @Whyhaveidonethis and @LassoOfTruth rightly say, it’s a positive sign that we’re ovulating and capable of getting pregnant. Hopefully we will all get our sticky jelly tots soon.

And, whilst I agree with @NikolaPiccola in some ways, that early testing might open us up to more disappointment, I can fully confirm what @is saying, regards still testing BFP 3 days into AF, after a Chemical.
My GP said that HcG can still be in your urine for up to 2 weeks after a Chemical/miscarriage (I’d imagine the more hormone you have in your system, the longer it takes, but that’s just me adding 2+2 together and probably making 5! But anyway...) I’m 3 days into my AF, following a Chemical, and still have faint BFP. So, waiting until AF was due to test would still not have protected us from having a BFP snatched away from us. Just my personal view on the matter.

The tag above was meant to be for @Whyhaveidonethis , not @is! X

So, just as an update... I went to the GPs last night and he confirmed an ‘early loss’ ie. Chemical Pregnancy. He checked for signs of ectopic, and I had none (thank goodness) and he said he didn’t believe I would have a problem conceiving again. He was actually really positive about my age (38) and said many women ovulate into their mid to late 40s.

So, I’m on CD3 now and just took my first dose of Soy Isoflavones to try to bring my ovulation back from CD29. It’s a new cycle, and time to look forwards to a possible sticky BFP over the horizon.

Baby dust to you lovely ladies. Xxx
