Negative Hcg tests driving me insane

We have decided to try and conceive and had lots of practice, and now my period is late by well over a week (my cycle is avg 24 days on Fitbit).

I do "feel" pregnant but all tests, including at the GP, prove negative. Hmm

I know it's a matter of time, but anyone else experiencing this? I would love to know if there's a light at the end of the tunnel

Just to clarify I'm currently 34 days into my cycle

Have you recently stopped hormonal contraception? That can really mess your cycle up for ages.

SDSmith · 16/09/2019 20:13

No, but I am 44 and irregular 😐 I've got kids already so I know I used to be able to know straight away with both feeling pregnant, and getting positive hcg test.

SDSmith I assume you know it’s incredibly unlikely that you will conceive at 44? Your post makes it sounds as though you expect you’ll fall pregnant soon but it really is as likely as a lottery win.

I’m 44 and had one chemical in the 2 years I’ve been TTC since my TFMR at 42. My cycles are 26-26 days and whilst we do still TTC every cycle I do not expect that I’ll ever see another positive pregnancy test.

*25-26

SDSmith · 16/09/2019 20:52

Well there's the power of positive thinking and I'm very healthy so I wouldn't just rule it out like that. Thanks for your comment though. I'll let you know.

Good luck 🤞

You too! ☀️

Perhaps late ovulation do not enough hormone to detect just yet. Hope you get your positive!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 16/09/2019 21:10

Is it ‘incredibly unlikely’? What are the stats on that? I know it’s less likely than in your 30s, but not sure that’s an accurate description.

Michellebops · 16/09/2019 21:22

I'm 42, had a missed call last year. No luck since.

Apart from one cycle of 18 days, every month now has an additional day on previous months cycle, used to be 27 days, now 32/33 with no obvious reason other than body slowing down possibly in prep for menopause.

I had dye put through my tubes in June and all showed healthy. Doing everything else at the right times but nada 😭

Michellebops · 16/09/2019 21:23

*missed miscarriage

SDSmith · 16/09/2019 21:24

Thanks for those thoughts too. I'm hoping I'm not thoroughly past it just yet and that I'm not completely over the hill but who knows.
Losing the faith seems to be very painful so I'm keeping my spirits high and hoping that the mental torture will become something much more beautiful.
Fingers crossed hey?

I'm sorry to hear that and also sorry that our replies crossed and I hadn't read that part about loss 💕

@SDSmith I had a healthy gorgeous baby last year when I was 44 and am now TTC at nearly 46 ....fingers crossed that the lottery win comment isn't quite accurate!
I had a MC last month at 7+2 😢 but am not giving up just yet
Good luck!

Mumsymumphy · 16/09/2019 22:26

I was reading a menopause thread a few months ago of a woman in her mid 40s who was asking if she should risk not using contraception now. All the PPs were horrified at the risk she was taking (by not using contraception) and there were many, many tales of aunties/mums/sisters/neighbours falling pregnant at 50-odd when they thought they were menopausal.

Keep trying!

SDSmith · 16/09/2019 22:38

Yes, that's a very good point. Everyone is different. I figure I just want to hear the success stories about who went through this stage and it turned out positive, and yours is great!
That might be very naive of me.

Still no positive test but signs are still making me really wonder!

Hi my Af is 2 days late and I keep getting negative tests too but keep feeling nausea and dizzy at times with sore boobs. I m just going to keep testing each day with ic and hopefully either af will come soon or something will show positive.

Hardheadedwoman39 · 18/09/2019 21:58

@SDSmith Definitely keep positive!
I'm 41 and have conceived two consecutive months, last month a CP and this month looking good so far....

I had a scan to check stuff after the CP which was really reassuring as they look at your follicles, any potential issues, uterus lining etc

Also taking your BBT every morning and tracking that is a brilliant indication of if things are working/being released. I see an acupuncturist and she said it's the quickest way to see if the different stages of your cycle are the right length (this can change as we mature 😊).....

Good luck!

AlienSmith · 23/09/2019 13:27

Looks like it's better luck for me next time.
