Hello,

I've been ttc for 19 months and am having all the fertility tests. Yesterday, what looked like a fibroid was discovered in my US pelvis. I've googled (big mistake!) and am now terrified I'm in the low percentage whose rumours aren't benign.

I have a follow up gynae consultant but that's a month away and I feel I need to know my options to stop the panic. Anyone have any experience of fibroids? Could this be what's causing my infertility? If so, would they likely remove it??

Any help would be much appreciated x

Hi @MotherOfShihTzus I have multiple fibroids, all but one all in the walls of my uterus. I've been ttc 18 months + and unfortunately have just had my second miscarriage, concieved finally after 16 months (I do not believe these have caused my miscarriages).

I saw my fertility consultant yesterday and he is sending me for a hysteroscopy - camera in uterus and removal of the largest fibroid which is pushing into the uterus cavity. I think depending where they are might have an impact but you'd need your doctor to tell you.

I spoke to a Tommy's midwife last week and mentioned my fibroids and she reassured me that she supports a number of women who have fibroids and they don't generally cause issues.

It's good that you're being seen by gyne. Fingers crossed for you 🤞 x

Thanks @VenusStarr. I'm so sorry to hear of your miscarriage. Hopefully the hysteroscopy will provide some answers. It's good that you have managed to conceive so you've a great chance of getting through this bump with a child at the end :) x
