Dh and I have discussed ttc child number 2 (ds turned one in July) but not sure whether to start trying yet or not, last time we tried we got pregnant first cycle but I can't help but feel like it won't be so easy this time! Would be best if we conceived post Christmas really (as there's wedding we are going to and I don't want to be a bloaty Sicky mess at them!) And also ds was a summer baby and third trimester in height of summer is a sweaty business! But if it takes 6 months to conceive this time, I don't want to be starting in 6 months because I definitely don't want to wait a year! What do I do? How long did it take people to conceive number 2? Even though practically it would be better later in the year id be over the moon if it was now! Head or heart decision!!

Sorry @Bstansfield but it's impossible to say how long it will take. First time I fell pregnant it happened when I was on the pill. This time I am actively ttc and I'm on my 3rd cycle. Realistically there is never going to be a good time, there will always be a hen do, wedding, holiday, party etc so I would just start trying when you are ready Smile

Fell pregnant as soon as ttc with dc1. Dc2 it didn't happen for a year and then we found low sperm count so had ivf.

I'd say go for it!

I don't think there ever is a 'right' time, and like you said there is no guarantee when it will happen after you start trying. With our first I had only missed one pill, with our second and third it happened straight after coming off the pill before I had a period. We've just started trying ttc number 4, I've had one period so far. We've thought should we wait until Christmas, but I'm getting older now (I'm 35 now, was 24 when I fell pregnant the first time) and it isn't necessarily going to be straightforward for us just because it was before so we've decided to just go for it now (although we did want to wait until we got back from holiday as I didn't want to be in the early stages in the Turkish summer heat!) Good luck whenever you do decide to start!

Yeah you're probably right, I feel like it would be right now so I suppose no harm in starting to try now! And if it takes a while then we have a head start! I'm so excited, I've loved every second of ds and can't wait to add a little brother or sister to his family!

I fell pregnant first time with dc1 and we weren't even trying with dc2. They're 17 moths apart and dc2 is 6 weeks old and currently asleep on me.
We were convinced it would take a while with dc2 so we were so shocked to find out we were pregnant so soon when we weren't expecting it.

Only you can decide what is right for you and yes, it may take a while but it may not.
Good luck x
