Can a cold during the TWW be a sign of pregnancy?

As I lay in bed this afternoon struggling with a newly developed cold, I found myself asking the question: is the cold an indication of early pregnancy?

At first I thought this was a desperate attempt to find meaning in a common illness that I have had many times in my life without considering the cause to be pregnancy, but then I 'Googled' (as you do) and discovered that the notion isn’t so far-fetched.

Has anyone had a cold during their TWW and gone on to get a BFP result?

I promise I won’t read too much into any of the answers.

Here's hoping!!

No, but I do become increasingly snuffly through pregnancy, something to do with increased blood flow to mucus membranes. Good luck!

@AdalbertWaffling
I don’t know whether to be frustrated that I had to cancel a day out with my friends or excited that I have some body change during this TWW. I haven’t had anything else.

I admit I do think that I’m grasping at straws lol.

I usually don’t pay too much attention during the TWW but this cycle has been different – only in that I have been more focused on each day that passes. I don’t like this feeling. It feels as if I’m standing still. Although, technically I am laying down Smile.

Weirdly sneezing was one of my first pregnancy symptoms both times Smile

I did have an awful cold type thing during what would have been my tww (if I'd known at the time!) I'm now 19 weeks. I think I did later read somewhere it can happen because of a compromised immune system but no idea how much truth there is in that.

Best of luck with your bfp x

@Her0utdoors

Thank you. It would be such a blessing if I had conceived.

I also read that about the blocked nose. I generally have that all year round so I wouldn’t notice much of a difference.

@Brianna83 Thank you! Appreciated! And, of course, congratulations. Is this your first?

@seeleym I’m an all-year-round sneezer, blower of the nose and all that, so if that were ever a sign it would go unnoticed with me.
