I've just been diagnosed with suspected PCOS. They're chasing my ultrasound scan referral to know more and I suppose come to a firm conclusion.

I'm not on pills to induce a period as it's been a good 3.5 months since I've had one.

So I'm a little 'meh' as we're trying to TTC our first and would love to become parents.

Please share any of your amazing PCOS TTC stories, looking for a little bit of sunshine.

I was first diagnosed at 16, and was told I'd never conceive. I was on no birth control because of this, I ended up falling pregnant 4 weeks being with my partner. Just came off the pill two weeks ago to try conceive our 2nd. Still no withdrawal bleed but lots of painful symptoms. It's more difficult for us because we don't always ovulate but can definitely happen x

Meant to say *now on, not not on - ha!

@Hayley94 That's amazing news and congrats on your first and trying for your second

I was diagnosed with PCOS after I had DC1 - I'd always had wildly irregular periods but when they stopped pretty much altogether - maybe 2 a year - I had tests. I was told that I was not ovulating at all and would need clomid and metformin to conceive again and that I should be referred for this as and when we wanted to TTC. DC2 was therefore something of a surprise! Conceived after 6 months without a period. Good job I had sickness really, or I'd not have found out til late!

Diagnosed with PCOS at 23 and
Told I would never conceive naturally. Didn't use any birth control for the next 9 years. I started loosing weight and suddenly found myself pregnant!!
Started trying again 6 months after DD was born....3 mcs later and DS came along!
I used to go anything up to a year with no periods....now having had DS I am a regular 28 days! Mother Nature surely has a good sense humour!!!

I don't have PCOS but my friend does and was diagnosed at a very young age. She's gay and on her first time ever having sex age 30 she got pregnant!

Love hearing these hopeful stories! We also had a bleak prognosis with PCOS.

Five years of fertility treatment failed for us; we had then gone all the way through a year long adoption assessment and approval process (and I'd lost a lot of weight) when we found out I was pregnant with #1.

Four years later, after another little bout of weight loss, in fact, we found out that #2 was coming. I'm due in a few weeks.

Hoping that you have a similarly wonderful story to tell in a few years. Thanks

Been TTC no 2 for 11 months and just been diagnosed with PcOS and given metformin - I definitely ovulated this month (first month on metformin) so something is working at least - time will tell but there is hope!

sojo44 · 10/09/2019 19:18

That is great news @Mooey89 ! And congrats on the ovulation (I say this as it's a celebration from my perspective as I don't think I'm even doing that ha)!

How did you find your journey to getting Metformin?
I had my scan on Tuesday and back in for the results and next steps with my GP on Friday. I wonder if they'll send me for more tests or give me a diagnosis and solution.

Lots of baby dust your way!

Sounds like there are a lot of special surprise PCOS babies out there! I have a friend who was told she couldn’t conceive when she was diagnosed with it so didn’t use any birth control and now she has a 4 year old!

sojo44 · 12/09/2019 07:35

It really does! It definitely gives me hope! I'll get to know more tomorrow at the GP.
Hopefully I'll be just as lucky :) @Banoffeepie91

@sojo44 how did you get on with your scan results? I have suspected PCOS too and had my scan and further blood tests done on Saturday. The consultant said she wants to see me again and would write out to me but would likely be around 6-8 weeks! Still no actual diagnosis though so no treatment as yet.

Known I had pcos for many years before ttc. Was going to get metformin when started ttc but, for reasons I won’t bore you with, I didn’t. Anyway we continued in the if it happens it happens frame of mind but I did get increasingly anxious that time was running out. Anyway, about 4 yrs after first stopping contraception I conceived out the blue. Since having dc my periods have never been so regular, it’s weird! So, it took a while, but it did happen-and probably would’ve happened sooner if I’d been on the metformin and under clinic care.

Nat6999 · 19/09/2019 01:51

I had pcos, got told by my GP that our chances of conceiving were slim, was waiting for an appointment for the fertility clinic with a view to trying IVF, letter arrived the day we were going on holiday, rang for an appointment, first one was two months wait, went on holiday, felt crap & in a horrible mood all holiday, came home, knew something wasn't right, did a test, got a bfp. We hadn't used any contraception for 2 years, had 2 very early m/cs the year before, was terrified right through until 20 weeks including a threatened m/c at 15 weeks & ds was born at 37 weeks.

sojo44 · 28/09/2019 12:03

Ah! So sorry for my late reply! it's been so crazy busy!!

@MrsTD88 So my scan results were all good (confirmed PCOS based on the follicle size) but everything else was good (no cysts etc.).
So I had AF induced with pills, and was told to see if this would 'reset' everything and if not, then to come back early November and the GP will refer me to a fertility clinic.

So fingers crossed, but part of my has a feeling it may have to be the clinic but we see :)

@WeeM that's brill news on DC :) there is hope for people like me yet :)

@Nat6999 congrats!! and what a lovely post holiday surprise :)! i'm hoping we'll be lucky this month and something will happen, but if not, fingers crossed the fertility clinic can help.
