Cycles after coming off the pill

So, I came off Microgynon on the 17th of July and had been on it for 8 years. Had a withdrawal bleed from 21st to the 28th of July and now no sign of first proper AF. If we count my withdrawal as a period then I'm on CD48 and had so many symptoms of AF but she just never arrives!

So I have 2 questions I guess:

  1. For those who've came off the pill how long did it take to get your 1st proper AF?
  2. Is there anything I can take or do to bring AF on?

I'm getting sick of being in limbo, just want my cycles to settle down so I know what to expect!

Thank you.

Hi OP,

The honest answer is it varies for everyone.

I came off the pill at the beginning of July and I had every symptom under the sun and period finally arrived CD45. I think all you can do is wait, and try not to think about it (which is easier said than done!).

I'm currently on my second cycle so hoping it will be a bit shorter.

Hi OP I Came off myceogygen in July and had my with drawl bleed then I have a cycle of roughly 31 days as I had befor taking the pill. And I came on exactly on day 31. Can you remember what your periods were like befor? As I found that helped me. I know a few of my friends who had irregular periods have now found they are still irregular but using OPKs helps a lot

Hope this helps a little xx

@Alltheseacronyms yeah it's so hard not to think of haha! Hopefully af appears soon (never thought I'd say that hahah) @Lucylou22039 I used to bleed every 2 weeks so they were regular albeit not right as obviously I was bleeding too often so they put me on the pill to 'regulate' me of course while on the pill they were standard and were around 30 day cycles

I came off the pill Femodene Aug 1st , still waiting on my real period , had a withdrawal bleed a couple days after stopping the pack.

I know what you mean by being stuck on limbo , I just want my period .

I used various pills, mainly yasmin then the contraceptive patch and stopped everything last September. My first cycle took about 75 days then 56, then about 40 then down to around 37 (mine used to be 35 before I started the pill) so it took me months to settle down but it did happen eventually. I think you just have to be patient and let your body settle. I read online that it can take up to a year in some cases so don't worry if it's dragging on and on, at least you know there's no reason to worry.

Yeah I've also read up to a year, just seems so long! When AF eventually does arrive I actually may celebrate hahah

Everyone is different. I missed one Microgynon pill and fell pregnant with my first baby. After I had him I took Zelleta, had a withdrawal bleed a couple of days after stopping it and fell pregnant with babies two and three before I had a proper AF. This time is stopped taking it on 5th August, didn't have a withdrawal bleed at all and had my first proper AF on 1st September
