35 and trying for 6 months, should I some get tests done at doctors?

I've heard when you are 35 and over you should go see the doctor for tests if you've been trying for 6 months. Is this true? and if so what tests does the doctor do please?

Thanks Smile

Yes definitely worth talking to your GP. They'll probably start with blood tests

Yes go sooner rather than later as if there is an issue most NHS areas have an age limit for IVF which In some places is only 36

I thought it was 12 months but I can't remember where I got that from... might just be the recommendation in my area. I think you're best off seeing your gp and then can talk you through tests etc. Worse that'll happen is they tell you to keep taking your folic acid and come back in a few months.

Btw I'm 37 and conceived after 10 months trying (20 wks pregnant now Grin) so sometimes it does just take time. Good luck!

Under 35 it's 1-2 years and over 35 it's 6 months
