How often do you try each month?

Just wondering how often do you try each month?, I've been using clear blue ovulation tests and last month I got a peak on cycle day 9, is is best to start after your period has ended, when and if you start ovulation tests? Hoping this makes sense.

We have a lot of sex all the time, but last fertile period we dtd 7 times in 48 hours, which is totally not recommended by anyone, but I just get so horny!! 😂

@Lauraliverpool clear blue opks recommends you to test from cd 10 some people do the SMEP method- please google cos I will probably tell you it wrong some people do every other day or every day through from cycle day 10 until a couple days after ovulation.

There is research to say to much sex can give lower quality sperm so every day is not the most recommended xx

OP, the ovulation test should tell you when to start testing in the instruction leaflet, based on the length of your period. It depends on the tests. The ones that just test LH you start later than the ones that test LH and oestrogen. If you have a 28 day cycle, there's probably no point starting having sex or testing before day 8 unless you fancy it.

The usual advice is to do it at least 3 times a week, and at least every other day would be better.

If you see EWCM, very wet or very watery CM, or have a peak / positive result on ovulation test, make an effort on those days for sure.

We are knackered most of the time so really only have sex to order when we are ttc - every other day when we get a flashing smiley and then depending if the peak smiley appears in the morning and afternoon definitely one of those days

The 3 times I've been pregnant the month we conceived we tried once, twice and once!

@RyvitaBrevis my cycle has varied by a day so start testing on day 6, got a day of high then went to peak, made sure it was on those days.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted we tried to make sure was on those days but hubby was not too well, so hopefully this month will be more successful.

@mrssunshinexxx I'm going to look at the smep haven't tried it before. It's worth a go.

This month we have BD'd every 2 days from CD7 up until my fertility week then every other day, though I think I'm ovulating over the next day or 2 so might do it every night just incase 😂 I'm exhausted.

We go for roughly every other day throughout the cycle, with obviously more effort to stick to that in the middle 😂

Can’t say it’s working, though...

We just have sex our usual twice a week or so, sometimes more, sometimes less. No ovulation tracking as I did that when we were TTCing before and I got a bit obsessed and it took all the joy out of it.

Well it seems that the energy may have worked this month!!! Tentative BFP this week!!

@Lauraliverpool Sounds good to me! The positive on the ovulation test indicates ovulation will occur within the next 48 hours, probably sooner in the next 12-24 hours. So two days after makes sense but much longer is maybe not worthwhile except from the point of view that doing it regularly is a good idea.
