TTC is pants, long/irregular cycles, OvuSense & sodding FRER indents

Hi guys,

Hope we are all good.

Have been TTC since January after coming off the pill, so over 8 months now, and it bloody sucks doesn’t it?!

Can anyone recommend something for a longer/irregular cycle? Whether that be in the way of supplements to shorten, or better ways to predict ovulation?
My cycles since coming off the pill have been as follows:
27 days (wicked, straight back to normal.. naaa!)
51 days
50 days
34 days
43 days
And now currently on CD 41..

It sucks as I if I am out for the cycle I have to wait so long to try again. Its so disheartening. I have a doctors appointment booked in the next couple weeks to see if they can offer any help, but I doubt they will be able to suggest anything as I have only been TTC since January. I did have a cyst on my ovary/ laparoscopy where they found potential endo.. but I had a transvaginal scan last year which came back all fine..

I am thinking of buying an OvuSense to monitor - could anybody recommend this? I have tried OPKs each cycle, apart from this current one as I got fed up of them and had a ‘what will be will be’ attitude...

Consequently, I have been obsessively POAS for the last 2 weeks or so (because quite frankly, feck knows when I ovulated or when I will come on so DPO is anyone’s guess).

I took an FRER 2 weeks ago which had a line, I could actually see it, other MN users could see it too! Brilliant, was this the start of my BFP.. so exciting... I can tell DH whilst we are on holiday in Italy... nope... just turned out to be a great big indent/evap I guess as every single test since has been a BFN..!

Sorry for my wafflings, if you too want to rant about annoying FRERS, have OvuSense recommendations or just also want to moan about how shitty TTC is, I’m all ears!

Thanks if you are still reading! Xx

Hi @ItsAlwaysSunnyInPhiladelphia I'd like to hear from others with longer cycles re: ovulation prediction!

I'm on cycle #3 cd27 my past two cycles have been about 38 days each. Apps predicted ovulation over the weekend but I got watery CM today. Have you tried ovulation sticks? How did you find them? I'm thinking of trying but with longer cycles I'm going to go through twice as many! I POAS like a mad woman cycle 1 and 2 but if my ovulation is so late I never stood a chance! Sad

@Polishedpebble1 I don’t really trust what the apps say, as unless you are temping, I don’t think they can accurately predict ovulation based on dates.
I did try and OPK for 2 cycles but to be honest I became really obsessed with it and just went through over 60 in one cycle. And was having multiple surges throughout the month so it was really hard to tell when I was actually ovulating.
I am thinking of buying an OvuSense. Its pricey but it’s meant to be really good for tracking ovulation when you have irregular cycles. So I will be giving that a go on my next cycle as I am just a bit lost/disheartened that I am not pregnant yet.
Best of luck xx

Hi ladies,

I just made an account to join in here. I'm experiencing the same thing and it is SO frustrating. Came off the pill in March, first cycle was 70 days. My next cycle was 33 days, and I thought great it is settling down... but I'm now currently on day 63 of my new cycle!!!

I've been using OPKs the past 4 weeks and never so much as a suggestion of a second line. So disheartening.

I've been to the doc as I was worried about PCOS due to the irregularity, but I'm slow to go to a fertility referral with my DH as it seems so soon (6 months) to go down that road... but I honestly dont know what to do!

Would love to hear from others in the same boat. But is great just to rant!!

Best of luck to you all xx

@ItsAlwaysSunnyInPhiladelphia I'm worried about getting obsessed too! And very disheartening when the lines don't come... I'd love to hear how you get on with ovusense. I'll be honest I know nothing about it I'm very new to TTC Blush

It's so easy to feel down about it but I keep reminding myself of the statistics. I read something like most couples will succeed by the end of a 2 year period. Fingers crossed for us all!
