Ovulating whilst on period

Anyone else suffering with this and have any advice?

I’m almost 41 and convinced am pre-menopausal.

Had first DC a week before my 40th birthday. Conceived really easily first time round (though suffered a missed miscarriage before had DC - but conceived the lost baby 1st go, then DC conceived on 4th go)

Since having him (well probs for last 6 months) my periods have been very long (7-10 days when previously were 4-5 days) and sometimes short cycles (23 days), but sometimes 27, 28 or 31.

Am currently about to have blood tests as I’m convinced I’m not ovulating anyway (no static smiley now when last time was TTC I used to get 4 days flashing then a static).

According to clue I’m ovulating when I’m on my period (and this does tie in with what the ovulation sticks are saying, albeit I’m not getting any statics).

We’ve not TTC as I’ve been on my period but I’m 41 in a couple of weeks so we are going to get in with it but how can you even get pregnant if your womb lining is shedding when you’re ovulating?

Has anyone any advice? I’m thinking doc could maybe give me Clomid if I’m not ovulating. We really want a second - our DC is such a joy

Yes there are circumstances when you can get pregnant while menstruating. It is most likely if you have sex towards the end and the sperm remains alive inside you for a few days and you ovulate early.

Thanks @pipandmum - I will be so devastated if we can’t have a second
