Taking Cyclogest from ovulation

Morning!

I wanted to pick someone's brain about a symptom that Cyclogest (progesterone) can cause in the TWW. I've googled and googled and can't find this one but I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up.

I've had a mega dry/cotton mouth since about 4dpo which is getting more and more apparent. I'm now drinking up to 6 bottles of water per day as well as a decaf coffee or two. I would normally only drink an absolute max of 3 bottles per day (at a push!)
I know dry mouth/thirst is a preg symptom and have had the same in my previous three pregnancies which all sadly resulted in MMC/MC

I'm looking for a reason other than pregnancy for this 'symptom' as, like I say, I really don't want to get my hopes up.
I'm now 9dpo and still drinking loads and therefore I'm constantly in the loo.
Plus I'm now having to get up in the night for a wee. Twice last night! DP even said it's unusual for me.

I don't have diabetes and am generally really healthy.

So my question is can Cyclogest cause this? Or any other reason for it given its way too early for preg symptoms?

I'm also getting hot flushes and bowels are a bit crazy. I won't test until this coming weekend when I'm at least 14dpo as I'm too scared! I'm trying to be rational and convince myself it's all the Cyclogest...

Oh dear!
I guess it was a bit of a long winded post. I guess I'll have to wait it out and see if this dry mouth/thirst stops when I stop the Cyclogest Smile

Hi, I too am on cyclogest pessaries after ovulation and just read uncommon side effect can be a change in taste, common side effects are wind, change in bowel movements, frequent urination. I too am too scared to test as I too have had MMC. X

@Lauraliverpool thank you so much for responding.

Ahh okay so the weeing could be the Cyclogest. Still doesn't explain the dry/cotton wool mouth...
I'm so sorry you've also experienced MCs.

Did your consultant say to stop taking Cyclogest at any point? Or wait for period to arrive? Mine's not specified, but I've read people stopping it at about 12dpo to see if period shows up then restarting if BFP at 14dpo

@Frazzlerock no worries! Could very well be the cyclogest, I'm trying not to symptom spot but I know it can also cause breast tenderness too, I seem to have had this from when af finished and during af too.

The consultant never told me when to stop was only when I rang the hospital for me that apparently only supposed to use it for 3 months and no longer. I've been starting on day 18 of my cycle for 7 days then to do a test and if positive continue until I think 16 weeks, if negative test to stop and wait for my period to come, did read cyclogest can cause your period to start early than expected or can delay it by a few days. I don't want to test too early for fear of being disappointed, according to Flo app period may start today or next few days which I'm hoping it doesn't really want my little boy to have a brother or sister. Also on the box it says to start if you get a bfp.

It's so frustrating that cyclogest has the same symptoms as pregnancy.

I'm now 10DPO and still have a dry mouth that constantly needs water.

When will you test?

You're so lucky to ov on CD18. I've got PCOS and didn't ov until CD29 this cycle. It was CD36 last cycle - such a painfully long wait. Although my cycles used to be over 100 days long in the past so I shouldn't complain too much!

Interesting that you say cyclogest can bring on period early, as I used it for the first time last cycle and my period was two days late and I always have a 14 day (without fail) luteal phase.

It is a pain that It does have similar symptoms to pregnancy, I've got the feeling af is going to make an appearance, I hope I'm wrong though. Don't know when to test I'm scared of being disappointed of seeing a negative test. I'm not entirely sure if I ovulate on day 18, I got a peak ovulation test on day 9. I know its mad how it can affect your period, I've found when I stop my period seems to come the day after, does worry me though cause they only seem really light and don't last for long.

Frazzlerock · 04/09/2019 06:54

Well my symptoms ramped up last night. The smell of cooking food was making me feel woozy and i started getting metal mouth which go so bad I had to chew gum. I drank even more water yesterday and dry mouth still continues so I made a pact with myself.
If I get up in the night for a wee (which I've been doing the past few nights but never normally do) then I will test. If I don't then I won't.
So I did get up in the night so tested this morning and got a fucking BFN Sad
So either it's too early (11dpo with First Response) or Cyclogest is winding me up big time with these symptoms.
I wish I didn't test now, I was enjoying the not knowing. I feel that if I was pregnant I'd have a hint of a line at 11dpo but it was white as snow.
I'm wondering if I should stop taking it tomorrow because these symptoms are a pain to live with if I'm not pregnant. I spend al day in the loo or fetching water and I hate this metal taste.
Uugghh.
First day back in the office too after 2.5 weeks, and it's raining. What a shitter of a day!

Well I think af is starting to show her face been feeling like it has for past week or so, did a test yesterday and bfn. Today has started with light brown spotting and periods have been like this since I've had the miscarriages, making me worry. Did get upset today and said to my husband can we really try this month so hopefully we will. How long did they say for you to take them for?. I'm having a big fat glass of wine! Hope you're ok as much as you can be. Xxx

Frazzlerock · 05/09/2019 07:01

I'm so sorry Laura. It's incredibly shit isn't it. I lost my rag in the car yesterday. Just screamed and cried and shouted how unfair all this is.

We did everything right this cycle. I had acupuncture, did relaxing fertility yoga, and had a chilled holiday so conditions were perfect. We bonked like rabbits throughout my entire fertile week and timed it immaculately. Then with all the symptoms I just thought how can I NOT be preg!?
If Cyclogest causes all these symptoms then I'm not sure I want to take it. It's so cruel 😢

It's been nearly a year since we lost our last baby and I totally thought I'd be pregnant again by now, but I just feel so empty.

Meanwhile people I know are having their 2nd in the 3.5 years I've wanted just one.

I hope you enjoyed your wine. I'm going to get shitfaced as soon as my period arrives!

And it has arrived. Slightly early this time and not quite as heavy, though I am sure it will pick up soon enough.

Still getting preg symptoms. I can't wait until cyclogest leaves my system. Its mean having preg systems while on AF Angry

I also have a very sore spot on my face to rub my nose in it even more.

It's mad how it affects you, I seem to have sore boobs from before period, during and afterwards too. I won't be on it now until I hopefully get a positive test. It's horrible going through this.
