PMS, period or pregnancy cramps?

Young21 · 29/08/2019 14:41

About 12 DPO and possibly due my period in the next day or so but I've had cramps all week which aren't normal for my PMS? They were mild but yesterday started getting stronger and luckily I'm off work today because I'm just exhausted and sore. Who has experienced pregnancy cramps, if you could tell me what they are like compared to PMS and period?

I've also had achy legs, headaches, sore breasts and complete and utter exhaustion even if I get a good night's sleep 😩

I've taken pregnancy tests but the evap/indent lines keep coming up and I think I had a fake positive on Monday. I've got a docs appointment on Wednesday too even if it is just to talk about my unusual PMS symptoms

Hey hun , im in the same situation at the mo , this 2ww is soul destroying 😰 im 7dpo today but for the last day or 2 ive been having af type cramps, right sided which can only be described as ovary pain and some white/creamy cm , been absolutely exhausted past day also n sounds bizarre but had itchy bbs for a few days too, not sure if im symptom spotting too much to be fair but there is definitely something going on 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5 month ttc , have you tried fret ? X

Hi! I had cramps early on in my first pregnancy... they started on CD30 and I thought my period was coming. But they were a little different to my normal menstrual cramps, subtly so (although I only realised this with the benefit of hindsight after I took a positive test). They were slightly less painful and more like a pulling sensation almost. As I say the difference was very slight. They went on for a good few weeks into the pregnancy too.
Good luck OP.

What do you mean by "fake" positive BTW?

Young21 · 29/08/2019 15:47

@Chez13 the two week wait is a definite pain 😩 I've had it similar! I feel different from what I usually feel every cycle. The day or two before my last period I just felt tired but that was it and it's usually just like that but I've had the whole aches, itchiness, sensitiveness and hunger issues. Aww good luck!! 🤩
Do you mean a free? I haven't... Only a few cheap Freedoms which are useless and two Asda tests... One being faulty and the other showing the faintest thin line but taking it as an evap for now till I possibly miss my period. Gonna get a frer/clear blue in Sunday if I miss my period though

With you guys here! Cycle 10 TTC #1. First month using OPKs started testing day 12 but convinced i ovulated earlier than this as had no positive ovulation test...yet I had signs prior testting. Anyway...its 7 or 8 days until AF is due and have a terrible backache, Im absolutely exhausted (napped at lunch yest and NEVER nap), super achy legs and my boobs HURT. Also cannot stop eating, also had the weird tuggy cramps....really don't know whats going on. Could be a weird cycle. Could be something else. Keep thinking I just 'feel' different, but after 10 unsuccessful cycles....Im also a bit cynical about the whole thing. Good luck ladies!

Chez13 · 29/08/2019 15:56

@Young21 im the exact same but im also thinking that theres no way i should be getting such "symptoms" at 7dpo ? Yeah the first Response i was meaning hun , if you got a faint positive thats defo a good sign ☺️ my mood seems to be all over the place its driving me nuts one min in snappy next im emotional and next im all cuddling with oh n dont wanna let him go all signs again of af shortly arrrgh just wish it wasnt so hard to tell the difference 🤦🏼‍♀️ do you have a pick of the faint pos ? I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you get your bfp 🤞🏼

Chez13 · 29/08/2019 15:58

@Babytrain89 ive had achy hips today and tops of my thighs very strange actually never really thought about it to be fair , the pains on my bbs seem to be like kinda pin prick needly pains if that makes sense ? X

Young21 · 29/08/2019 15:58

@whoartinheaven

I meant False positive 😂 sorry
My first test strip came up with an instant positive line (faint but no need to squint) but all the others after that have thin grey streaks so taking it as a false positive or an evap till I get a similar or better result.

My cramps have been on and off all week. I don't know how to describe them but they are definitely different to my period cramps and I never usually get PMS cramps I usually just get a temperature change and hunger

3-5 days ago it felt a bit like a slight rumble for a few seconds on and off not sharp pain but as if someone held my stomach in tightly and released it. Today I'm feeling a dull ache in my lower abdomen, back, bum and thighs...

How else could you describe a pulling feeling?

@Chez13 I don't know I've heard that some women get their symptoms really early! You could be one of the few! If it is ovary pain and symptoms you can't swipe it aside just because if that because it could still happen and your body is just getting ready 😊

I'm not too sure about the faint line either but it's a start and the reason I've arranged a doctor's appointment 😂 roll on Sunday!!

Awe emotional rollercoaster are the worst 😣 I've had a few moments in the last day or so where I either burst out crying and upset over small things or burst out laughing for no reason and just feel incredibly happy and smiley with life 🤣

I will keep my fingers crossed for you too! For everyone 😁

Young21 · 29/08/2019 16:39

So unfortunately I got the dreaded AF. However, (TMI alert) it doesn't seem to be a normal period? Usually on my regular I start off immediately with a very heavy first day which I'd usually have to plug up with a tamp AND a pad just to be safe from leaking. I'd usually have to change it every 4/5 hours and it would come with cramps that annoy me so much I would wake up from sleeping, have to have a hot water bottle nearly through the whole day etc... but the next day I usually don't really suffer from cramps but the bleeding is roughly similar.

It's been like that on the first day every cycle for quite a few years now so why the sudden change now?

It's a light first day, no clots/clumps of blood, cramps are there but nothing like I usually have them, usually if I'm having a shower on my first day I'd have to be prepared to plug up so it doesn't get everywhere but I stood outside the shower for 5-10 mins today and there was nothing, I was practically clean?

Also during PMS or period I crave nothing but junk food and fruit and salad or healthy food just doesn't fill me up but I've recently craved fruit and things like carrots a houmus... I've even turned down chocolate which isn't like me 😂

I wonder what is up? It can't be implantation bleeding because I'm spot on for my period to be due? Good thing I have that doctors appointment Wednesday so I can get a check up at least 🙄

Ah sorry to hear AF arrived. Must admit I've found some changes in my cycle since starting TTC think your body just knows and likes to play tricks. If you continue to have no flow for next few days maybe do a test to put your mind at ease?
