Coming off the pill side effects

Hi all

I came of the pill (cerazette) 3 weeks ago today and still no sign of AF. I was just wondering how long it took for people to get back into some form of normality and what sort of side effects they experienced? For the last couple of weeks I've had massively sore boobs but that's about it.

We are going to be TTC from October and worried that because I've been on the pill for the last 12 years or so (at least 9 years on Cerazette with no period at all). I am overweight and was wondering if anyone else had experienced issues getting AF back and what you did?

Few years back now but I came off in the February, I remember terrible headaches. I got a short cycle in the April, then Mays was bit longer then conceived in the June. I didn't go back on it after giving birth & conception second time around was loads longer and harder. I heard/read you can be more fertile in the window after coming off contraception, this did ring true for me ( but I've not looked into scientific accuracy of that ! ) Good luck

Has anyone been to see their GP when they went off the pill for advice/health check or are you all doing it yourself x

I've come off the pill on and off a few times but have taken it for about 15 years in all. Every time I've come off I've had my withdrawal bleed then back to normal periods 28/29 days later. When I had my little boy I came off the pill the end of Oct and was pregnant beginning of Feb, I'm also quite overweight

Hi @MrsERH I came off Cerazette and had first bleed 5 weeks later. Waiting for next period to be able to track cycle etc. Good luck!

@MrsERH no problem! When I first came off it and had my first period I would google all the time and all I would read about is other people and them bouncing back straight away to their normal cycles. I’m having some spotting atm which started on CD23 and I’m now CD26 but me and OH DTD a week before so I don’t know what to think! It’s so light and if it is AF it’s a lot earlier than previous cycles. Oh the joys!! I don’t know whether I’m coming or going! I’ve not got any hopes up but you just can’t help but wonder.

@Hayley94 I went and they said it’s completely normal, got blood tests and they came back fine. Been off pill 8 months now and pretty regular

I came off the mini pill a few years ago (for a break not TTC) and it took nearly 6 months for my first period, after not having any for years because of the pill! I'm now back on the same pill but I've started getting bleeding/spotting every 2 weeks, so hopefully if I come off again to TTC it won't take so long for my cycle to correct itself!

I came off this pill in Mid/End February and got my breakthrough bleed end of March which then set the date for my periods going forward. I also worried about struggling to conceive after being on it 5 years but am currently over 6 weeks pregnant 🤞

I am 27 and TTC #1
I came off pill 25th May after 7/8 years of being on microgynon and had a withdrawal bleed straight away and nothing since! It has been 92 days so far..

I went to the doctor and had a blood test but everything came back normal. He just said i might be an unlucky one and it will take longer than normal (great)

I've got to wait another 2 months and if I still get no AF then I am being referred to a gyno (fingers crossed it comes before)

@Mrsccc and @AllTheGlitter how long did you wait until the doctor would give you a blood test to see if everything was ok?

@JaffaCakeGal Thanks for letting me know your timescale - wish I'd come off it earlier now as just assumed it would come back pretty quickly!

Yes I seen 1-3 months on NHS site. I can off 25th this month and feel like I've waited ages for bleeding 🙈🙉

@MrsERH yep I totally felt the same! It will come, we just have to be more patient, which isn't easy!

I had a positive OPK last night so absolutely over the moon today!

I stopped taking the pill May 2018 I didn’t have a period until September. Then my cycles were between 30/40 days just the last 3 months Iv had a period under 35 days. Just be patient. It will come in sure. (I’m a special case)

Off the pill on the 25th and this appeared today. Am I due to ovulate already??

@Hayley94 I took my last pill on the 9th and although I didn't test I felt like was ovulating around the 14th! I think it is possible and I guess your test proves it!! I have seen stories on here of people conceiving a few days after stopping the pill so it must be true x

I started with tummy cramps yesterday and feeling nausea so assumed a bleed was on the way but nope. Tested and got s positive. Child free tonight aswell so the deed is getting done 😂
