Trying for a girl

I know that there's no gaurentee and I'm totally fine with whatever the outcome but if I COULD sway the gender I would like my second to be a girl after my little boy. So..I've done some research, I'm not doing anything crazy that could harm the baby or myself, just simple going on the assumption that boy sperm is faster than girl sperm therefore I should DTD in the running up to ovulation and stop just before. I came off my period 2 days ago so I have done an ovulation test to see where abouts I am in my cycle and the attached picture is the outcome, would you say now would be a good time to start DTD? Any other tips that are not going to affect myself or the baby like crazy diets would be appreciated!

Personally, I don’t think there can be a way to control the sex of a baby. But, if you’re genuinely happy the outcome either way, no harm in a little experiment!

I think those ovulation tests are quite unreliable, in that the darkness of the lines rather than their appearance is the important thing. I could be mistaken but when I was using them, I found it very hard to predict ovulation as I would usually get two lines and had to be quite precise in matching them in colour!

@Pinkslink17 Hi Op, I personally do find the chinese gender calendar to be quite accurate, it was correct in first pregnant with DD and It said this time if I conceive Jan it would be girl if I conceived Feb it would be boy! Its also been right for all of my sisters, could just be a huge coincidence! But thats 13 babies it was right for 😂

Also with DD we DTD on the MORNING of ovulation and with DS (currently 32 weeks) we DTD the NIGHT before the day of ovulation!

This wasn't on purpose, with DD it was NYE and could not be bothered so was left till morning and with DS we was in the mood so we DTD the night before 😆

You can’t influence whether it’s a boy or a girl by having sex at different points in your cycle. What on Earth have you been reading?

Pinkslink17 · 27/08/2019 15:10

@Gustavo1 thank you, I may invest in some decent ones I didn't really think too much into it if I'm honest but I makes sense as they didn't cost much at all!

@HJWT that's interesting! I suppose what will be, will be! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Currently ttc baby no 1, and dare I say that I would love a daughter. I think we're only human! If I had a son I wouldn't ask to return him, I'd be equally in love. BURN ME AT THE STAKE

HJWT · 28/08/2019 21:49

@Nuttypea haha made me laugh 😂

snowone · 28/08/2019 22:00

I don't think your theory is scientifically proven I'm afraid. I've just had my second DD and we DTD on the day I ovulated....sorry Confused

Pinkslink17 · 05/09/2019 22:40

@Nuttypea this has made my whole month, never mind making my day Grin

I would say sex every other day from now until the day before you ovulate.
Regular sex keeps the sperm nice and fresh. Also expect it to take longer to conceive as you are missing prime conception time opportunities by not having intercourse st the point that you ovulate. So I would say only do it for a while and if you aren’t in a great hurry. But if you don’t conceive after a time I would give it up and have sex on those days too.

Roozy123 · 06/09/2019 08:16

I don't believe you can change anything in the result for when sex child you have.

My SIL done everything for a boy.... they've ended up with 3 girls.

Roozy123 · 06/09/2019 08:20

@PotteringAlong

It’s always people who want a girl. No one ever wants a boy...
I wanted a boy! Lol. I only wanted boys... only because having a teenage girl puts pure fear in me 😂
I now have a beautiful boy and girl and pregnant with my 3rd and happy for either.

Also... @codenameduchess

Its sex not gender
I was happy to see someone actually point that out.
