What did your parents say when you asked where you came from?

Just thought about this and it made me smile...

When asking my father how I got into my mammy's tummy and where was I before I got there... (probably was a much longer question said in one breath of a lovely little squeaky 4 yr old voice)

He answered... "You were one of many stars in Jesus' pocket and when he decided it was time he threw down a star (like a shooting star) and it landed in your mummies tummy"... not sure if it made sense to me but it left a lovely image in my head.

Not sure what I'll tell my dd.

What did your parents tell you?

I don't remember ever asking, actually, and I have no recollection of even wondering about it until they started teaching it at about age 10. Was I that innocent?

charliecat · 20/09/2004 21:32

Not sure who told me but I always thought daddy layed an egg and mummy picked it up in the night through her belly button!

Geordie · 20/09/2004 21:33

was told that I came from mummy's tummy and not to ask the question any more...so I didn't!! Was a bit niave (sp) at school etc and when asked what is 'durex' I used to say 'batteries'. Lol it's a miracle I ever learnt the birds and the bees

LOL Sobernow, THAT's where my parents frequently sent me!
Kate, I didn't ask my parents either. Didn't need to after nasty David Browne aged seven told me all I needed to know and a whole lot more.

Under the gooseberry bush. I went out to the garden and chose my favourite one and decided that one must be the one!

Twiglett - Do you think you'd have been as daft as me and gone and chosen one if you had?!

Having 3 older siblings I never had any lovely romantic explanations like that ... I remember telling a friend of my brother's when I was 4 that he certainly didn't come from under any gooseberry bush and what really happened was ....
His mum banned him from coming to our house after that ...
So far DS knows he came from my tummy and that daddy put him there. He seems satisfied with that for now.
