Honestly yes.. it wasn't pleasant BUT.. following the initial few days where it felt like intense period pains, haven't had any issues since, 3 years later.

Yes it was, shocked me 😂

littlebillie · 17/08/2019 23:42

Do you really want to know?

WhatWhyWhen · 17/08/2019 23:44

Well I had mine 2 weeks ago and felt nothing but a slight pinch for about a minute. Maybe I’ve got a steel cervix Grin

Oh but I did have a niagra falls period for the following week, done a dusted and all seems well now!

SmartyPants0 · 17/08/2019 23:50

I had my old coil removed, a smear test, and another coil inserted, I can honestly say I felt a twinge and that was it. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes.
I took a couple of paracetamol before I went and tried to relax and concentrate on my breathing whilst it was being done

Not copper but Mirena - I read beforehand that it felt like someone was trying to scratch your bellybutton from inside and that’s exactly how it felt. I had heard people say that it was ‘uncomfortable’ and had took that to mean agonising but for me it just felt weird, then I had less than 2 seconds of actual pain - by the time I said “Ow” it was done - and it was completely fine. A few hours of cramps later on and that was all. I’ve just had mine replaced 5 years after the first and it felt exactly the same.

I haven’t given birth btw. Not sure if it makes a difference but I’d heard that it was more painful if you hadn’t.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/08/2019 00:19

I've never given birth either and it was more painful than I expected. But literally not for long. I'd get another in a shot

NChangeForNoReason · 18/08/2019 00:26

I've had a kid and I hurt like hell each and every time I had it either in or out - However once in it worked really well for me.

I have had friends for whom it didn't really hurt and friends who had reactions to them and were in pain until It was removed.

Take 2 ibuprofen 20mins before the appointment, 2 paras after - take a friend to drive u home just in case.

Good luck
