Everyone's thoughts on caffeine?

I think perhaps I need to switch to de-caff coffee/tea as there are a lot of studies into it being harder to conceive if you drink over a certain milligram of caffeine.

Can you share with me if you stop caffeine altogether or just around ovulation and dreaded TWW?

Following, as I've been wondering the same.

I've also read that decaf isn't a lot better, something to do with the chemicals they use to remove the caffeine from the beans, but I'm not sure what to do for the best either.

(Sorry, unhelpful reply!)

Really?? Perhaps we should just stick to water 😣😣😆

I find water so boring, that I don't drink enough. And I'm sure being dehydrated isn't good either!

I am trying with water but the taste makes me feel ill. I normally drink fresh juice or squash but at the moment cannot afford it. So trying to muddle through with water and hot chocolate

firstimemamma · 17/08/2019 13:33

I don't think it makes any difference.

DandyLyon · 17/08/2019 13:34

Drank zero caffeine with my first and an unholy amount with my second. No difference

I lived on full fat coca cola when I was in my first trimester, it was the only thing I could keep down, had to be freezing cold with ice in it.

When I had IVF the advice from the clinic in the 2ww was no caffeine. I've actually cut it out completely now but it's interesting they advised against it.

Thanks for all your replies

When I was pregnant before with DD's I remember cutting down the caffeine. But don't remember doing it at all when TTC then

I've cut down while TTC to prepare myself for the same if and when I get pregnant. It's advised you do cut down you don't need to have decaf just less of the hard stuff

You can buy certain brands of coffee that have been decaffeinated using the "water method" as opposed to chemicals.

Most companies use chemicals because then the caffeine can be used in other things as opposed to washes away in the water.

Have a google of "decaffeinate coffee the water method".

Off the top of my head, Clipper brand decaf coffee is done by the water method. I also think Percol might be too.

Waitrose definitely stock Clipper and imagine Holland and Barrett and similar places would too.
