Hello all

I'm quite new to this
I am 32 and me and my partner are TTC our first child
I came off the pill at the end of April and had a withdraw bleed almost straight away ( within a week ) I've had 2 normal periods since this too. Every 28 days and lasting 5 days ,
I have a couple of apps on my phone - flow and Ovia and according to them I was due to ovulate last week . So I did a ovulation test stick each day last week without a positive at all - not even a faint line
Today out of curiosity I did a test and I have a positive . Is this possible to ovulate later than the apps say?
Sorry if I sound really silly and nieve but this is all new to me
Thank you all in advance for any replies
And good luck to you all TTC xSmile

Definitely. The apps just use an average woman of average cycle. Do not rely on them at all for the correct ovulation dates. I ovulated 3 days after the apps thought I would.

Yep I'm new to it all too I ovulated a day earlier than I thought. Just best to test every day for about a week from CD 10 onwards I would say. My cycle used to be about 28 days and I ovulated this cycle (first cycle since coming of pill end of June) on CD14 but that doesn't mean will be same day next month.

What about testing everyday from CD7 onwards to be sure?? Anyone done that?

georgialondon · 12/08/2019 21:07

I always get positive Ovulation strips on day 9. Assume nothing!

Yes, you could ovulate later than the apps say. The apps will also adjust their timings based on the data you input.

I think I used both of those and Fertility Friend - and you input if you've had a positive ovulation rest, right? It'll adjust your predictions in the apps and become more intuitive in time.

There's a small chance you missed your surge last week (are you testing twice a day on the days you expect to ovulate?) and now it's picking up a second surge which you can sometimes have before your period is due.

@Dec2019mumtobe

Is there a second surge ? I didn't know this
I feel so confused with it all

My AF is due in 12 days time
So is it still possible to still get pregnant on the second surge
I only did a couple of test strips last week as I only just purchased them
But I will do them more regularly from now on I think

Last week the app said I was most fertile even tho the few strips I did do had no second line but We DTD every day last week anyway 😂 which we both enjoyed doing lol
