Can you get a negative test and still be pregnant

Hello all,

I hope you can help, I took a test this morning which came back negative. However, I am still getting all of the symptoms. In fact last night I got up and thew up a couple of times which is new.
I am just really not sure what to think at the moment. The biggest issue is that I had been on the mini pill since last December and I have not had a proper period since then. So I cannot use my periods to tell.
Am so confused as why would I get all these symptoms and not be pregnant. They did blood tests and the only thing they found was I was low on vitamin D. Did not do pregnancy blood test. So it makes no sense as to why I would get these symptoms if I was not pregnant.

It's very unusual to get pregnancy symptoms without a positive test. You hear about stories on the internet where that's happened because they're the 0.001% of people who then seek advice. There is the hook effect, where your hcg levels are higher than the tests detect, but this generally doesn't happen before the end of the first trimester. You can test too early and get negatives, but if the hcg is high enough to cause true pregnancy symptoms (and not just progesterone pms symptoms), they're high enough for a test to pick up.

Thank you for your answer. The doctor reckons it might be to early for the tests to pick it up. I had this happen before. I was pregnant and got symptoms really early. The doctors are not sure on what it is but I have read of other women that have this happen. Will just wait and see what happens
