Hi, I was just looking for some advice am I’m confused. My period is late, I’m not sure how late as I’m not very regular but it’s between a week and 11 days late. The last two days I’ve had some light bleeding when I wipe but nothing on a pad. I’ve also had cramping, so thought my period was coming, but it hasn’t. Today I’m having a sharp shooting pain in my left side similar to ovulation pain if anyone ever had that.

Yesterday I took a Clearblue test (not digital) and had a very faint line. It was so faint that I had to send a picture to two of my friends, who said they could also see it. This morning however I took a digital Clearblue test and it says not pregnant.

I’m not trying to conceive as I just handed my notice in at work last week, so no mat leave etc. The timing wouldn’t be great, and my partner and I are very careful. Normally I’d trust the digital test but the very faint line on the other one, along with the late period and cramps, has got me wondering if it could be inaccurate. I don’t know how to post a picture but if I can, I could post the faint test. Are the digital ones usually the most accurate? Even if it’s very early?

If your period is overdue the Clearblue should pick up a positive by now, either try another brand such as first response or pop to your doctor for reassurance.

Thank you. That’s reassured me. Because I’m not trying to conceive, and because my periods aren’t regular, i’m not very familiar with when implantation bleeding etc should happen so I convinced myself maybe that’s what the bleeding was. But I don’t suppose that would happen after my period was late...implantation would happen and cause my period to be late right?

I have another digital test left so if I don’t come on I’ll try that in a few days alongside a first response as you suggested!

Digital is not as sensitive as others. Try first response as they can detect pregnancy much earlier than clear blue. Good luck and I hope you get the result you want.

Ok thank you, sounds like I need to get a first response test for tomorrow morning then. I don’t know why but I figured the digital ones would be the best as they are...digital.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add a picture but I can’t on my iPhone. Any ideas?

I really would love to be a mum but the timing of things would be awful right now as I’m going back to uni in September, so will be a student with no income.

Apparently new users can't post pictures for 48 hours, so I'm sure by the time I'm able to post the test my period will have come and this will be resolved
