Why would a test say 3+ weeks and then 2-3 weeks a few days later?

I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it read 3+ weeks, and another this morning which read 2-3 weeks. Does anyone know why it might change? The information sheet said visit a doctor which I will do tomorrow.
I had a period on 15th May, and again on 27th June, but obviously not since. My periods aren't always on the same day each month, I always put this down to the fact I'm still breastfeeding and had come off the pill a few months prior.

Thank you, feeling a bit worried that the weeks indicator has dropped.

Go to the drs to be sure as they might do a blood test to confirm your levels are rising.

It can be down to different things like more diluted urine etc. Also I've heard there's a hook effect but not sure how far in that normally happens (where you have so much hcg it appears less on tests)

🤞🏻 for you

@hakunamatatatatata
Unfortunately for me it's always been a bad sign unless you tested at a completely different time of day and your wee wasn't that concentrated with the second one x

First test was Fridays lunch time when I really needed a wee. Test today was about 10:30am. I woke up and had a wee. Then went down and made a hot drink and remembered the second test so went up and did it but had to force a quick wee. Would that make any difference? Worried now

I can see 3 potential reasons.

  • it was a chemical pregnancy and your hcg levels are dropping
  • it was a less sensitive test (other brand or defective batch ?)
  • it was less concentrated urine

At this point, there is nothing much to do except go to the doctor or keep monitoring. I wouldn't say this is significant just yet !

If you did a test that showed 3weeks+ why would you do another?

It's clear you're pregnant, congratulations!

Arrange an appointment with your midwife for a few weeks time.

Seriously, accept the result and try not to stress and please don't read on other people's outcomes as you'll drive yourself crazy with worry ❤️

I'm seriously not wanting to come across as horrible but please stop stressing and enjoy your pregnancy before symptoms kick in

I went from a positive test to negative tests and completely convinced myself i was having a chemical pregnancy- to the extent that i told my gp when visiting about another matter!
Must have been for some other reason as i most definitely was still pregnant! Hope this is the same for you. Perhaps try to have a few days of testing.
