I stopped taking the pill six months ago and had the same kinda thing it tool two and a half months before I got AF and did a pg test every week. All of them BFN. I had lots of symptoms too. I went to the docs in the end. They did a blood test and confirmed I definatley wasnt pg. They thought it may have been a bit of a come down from the pill I was on as it was a strong one.

AF's still aren't regular yet. Am two weeks late now from my last AF and trying my hardest not to keep testing all the time as it'll just drive me nuts!

I hope it works out for you.

Hi pixie04

If your periods remain as irregular, hormonal imbalances are often to blame. In this regard thyroid problems or a condition called polycystic ovaries should be checked for (a blood test can be done to assess your hormone levels).

The pill leaves your system very quickly after you finish the last tablet.

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days OR with 4 days or less of variation from month to month.

I'd visit your GP asap and talk to him re this problem.

I would unfortunately think it is unlikely you are expecting given four negative test results.

Hi AttilaTheMeerkat

Thank you for your advice I'm going to see Dr tomorrow so will ask for the test you suggested.

mazzed42

I really hope it works out for you if you are ttc good luck. Try not to stress yourself about not getting AF, I know how it feels x

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/08/2007 10:17

If you have a blood test done (its called a day 3 test as this is done early in the cycle. If your AFs are irregular it can be done according to calendar days i.e the 3rd of the month) ensure that the GP compares the level of LH (luteinising hormone) against that of FSH (follicle stimulation hormone). These two should be about the same; an imbalance of LH to FSH could be indicative of hormonal problems like polycystic ovaries.

this is what im also concerned of the polysistic ovaries that a couple of you have mentioned. what cant they do if this is the case?

OP posts:
mazzed42 · 02/08/2007 10:23

sorry, what can they do?

OP posts:
AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/08/2007 10:25

With PCO you ought to be seen by a gynae - this is outside a GPs remit.

I would ask for a referral to a gynae as a matter of course.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost. If it is PCO it can be treated but not eradicated completely.

mazzed42 · 02/08/2007 10:26

can it affect your af then?

OP posts:
AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/08/2007 10:29

Yep - it can make them very irregular.

mazzed42 · 02/08/2007 10:41

ok well thanx and i will see what gp has to say. i did go see him when af stopped and i missed my first af, but he wasn't very concerned and told me not to worry about it!! lets hope i have a better reaction this time!!

Hey,pixie04, just thought i would ask if u r still there, what pill was u taking? ive been on cerazette and heard of a lot of people having problems when they stopped taking it...

I'm still here, I was on Noromin, I was only taking my weeks break every three months as my Gyne reccomended as I have endometreosis so I thought it could take longer for AF's to get back to normal.

You said that you kept getting BFN's with you first daughter, how far gone were you when they changed to positives?

I had a test at the Dr's last week but at that time I was only a couple of days over due and it wasn't a morning wee so I've been wondering if it was a false ng. I haven't really had any symptoms though apart from a lot of cramping and a bit of a cold.

mazzed42 · 02/08/2007 13:51

sorry had to see to dd's....i was 14 weeks when i finally got my positive with my youngest dd. the same thing happened with dd1, i didnt get a positive until i was 12wks. some people just dont seem to get the higher levels of hormone they test for until later on. ive read other people who have had this happen on here too..

mazzed42 · 02/08/2007 15:17
