Clear Blue Smilies

I started using the clear blue opks that predict 4 fertile days. I started using it a bit late in my cycle. I got negative for a few days, but have now has flashing smilies for four days in a row, but no static! Day 23 of my cycle now, I do have longer cycles (35 days not unusual) but this is pretty late now not to be ovulating yet, and I thoughg the opk was supposed to give two flashing smilie days then two static? Has this happened to anyone else? Am I just not ovulating this month?

You can have up to 10 days of flashing smileys before getting a solid smiley before clearblue says to stop testing - I would try for another couple of days but you might just have missed it this month with testing a bit later x

Thanks I didn’t realise you could have them for so long! I am a bit worried that I missed ovulation, I was using cheap opk strips before I started the cb and had some dark lines (but not positive) the days before, and a couple of days I didn’t do a test. We have been dtd fairly regularly throughout the month though so hopefully Still a chance if I have missed it!

My cycle is 29 days and I usually start testing cycle day 8 as o can get a peak any time from cycle day 10 to 17 but if you've been dtd pretty regularly I'm sure you'll be fine

My ivf clinic won't let me use the clearblue digital OPKs anyway as they say they can be late detecting the surge and so I swapped to the cheap ones and actually find them really good If you use an app like Premom to take a photo of the test and it lines them up and tells you if it's low high peak etc

You can also get a positive opk after ovulation if you're pregnant by the way!

I have long cycles too. Used cb for the first time this cycle. I started testing early so not to miss anything. I think I had 9 flashing ones before my static.

@Skyla01 I'm using them this month for the first time I bought the 10 pack because dh was moaning that they are expensive I hope I only need one month to prove him that they work ! X

Skyla01 · 31/07/2019 12:22

@mrssunshinexxx good luck! Most people report good things whilst using them. I have long cycles so got the 20 box. Only used around 12 so have enough left for next cycle too. Obv hoping I won't need them! I've heard you can use the same holder again for subsequent cycles, it still works.

SummerSun10 · 31/07/2019 12:33

thanks everyone, looks like I will just need to keep testing then and hope I get a static smiley soon!
The strange thing is that I have been getting PMS symptoms the last day or so (cramps and sore boobs), so feels like AF is coming in the next week, but haven't yet had the static! Is it possible that I have missed the LH surge and that the clear blue is just sticking with the flashing smiley even though my period is coming? Or starting part way through my cycle has somehow messed up the tests?

@Skyla01 yeah you can use the same holder but can't buy sticks separate so abit pointless really
How long is your cycle I think I am 26 days x

Skyla01 · 31/07/2019 15:39

@SummerSun10 it's possible you started too late. I would maybe keep going a few more days in case you're having an extra long cycle. Perhaps start testing earlier if you use them again?

@mrssunshinexxx my last cycle was 44days!! Drives me mad it takes so long for each ovulation to come around! Projected for 40 days this cycle though.

SummerSun10 · 01/08/2019 08:01

I got static smiley this morning! Hoping that I don’t ovulate too early today as DH not home until late this evening.

@SummerSun10 I thought when you got the static it's a 48hour time period to get busy?

Skyla01 · 01/08/2019 10:11

@SummerSun10 that's great! DTD tonight will be good timing. You probably will ovulate in the next 24-36hr.

SummerSun10 · 01/08/2019 14:45

thanks that is reassuring, I was so worried I had missed it as we didn't get to DTD last night. We will try tonight and see what happens!

@SummerSun10 if you can do tonight and tomorrow morning you should be on to a winner
