Hi,

I know these threads have started and ended before but i think that there are quite a few of us around at the moment, Ms Lucy, Tinbus,Anniemac, me, I'm sure there are others?

Wondered whether you wanted to join me if you started out quite optimistic and are now finding that it might not be as easy as you first thought.

My story in a nutshell is that I had my first at 34/35, had no problems.

started trying again at 36 (nearly 37). Now approaching 38 and have had no luck and have just started getting me and DH checked out.

If that sounds familiar and you would like to hang out on this thread, I would be delighted to hear from you.

And, if anyone was in a similiar position and then everything worked out, would be REALLY great to hear those stories to.

Thanks x

Hi BobbyD that is brilliant news , that is so brill

I have been lurking in the caravan so I have seen your other posts it must have been such a stress waiting for the BFP.

bobbydazzler · 30/08/2007 21:37

It was incredibly stressful but somehow made it even better to finally get a BFP on the third try

How are you doing?

OP posts:
hedgepig · 30/08/2007 21:49

Just waiting for what the next week and a half will bring, but I'm not too hopeful.

Tesco keep giving me money of coupons for tampax, I think they are mapping my cycles for me! Which is a bit like rubbing salt in the wounds

bobbydazzler · 31/08/2007 07:48

everything crossed for you that you won't need to use their coupons! sometimes the big brother world we live in can be a bit too intrusive!

I guess i can spring clean my bags and remove all my slightly squashed ones now, tho I bet I dont.

OP posts:
hedgepig · 31/08/2007 20:49

gosh clearing out a bag that would be horribly organized. I only ever do it when I'm doing my expenses and need to find a lost receipt.

jk63 · 31/08/2007 21:04

I fell preg first time I tried age 34 but had a miscarriage.

Tried again on & off until I got to about 38 when DH & I had tests. All normal. Decided against the IVF route, accepted a child free life, emigrated to Australia. Six months later age 40, having not used contaception for 5 years, fell pregnant. Had DS age 41.
I say never give up. He feels like a miracle.

Would like another but at 43 don't want to deal with the worry of it so accept my little one for the gift that he is.

Good luck, there really is no rhyme nor reason sometimes.

choolie · 31/08/2007 22:10

congrats bobbyd, brill

xyzabc · 02/09/2007 13:22

hi bobbydazzler, i had my son at 36 after trying for about a year. you have at least another 6 or 7 years of being able to have a child (probably more!) so relax and take it easy. my mum had me at 46 so dont worry. have you bought the kits from superdrug that tell you best days to try. they are about £20 but worth it. good luck and keep the faith, it will happen !

bobbydazzler · 02/09/2007 15:59

Hi XYZABC

Thanks for the message and in fact if you scroll down the thread a little way you will see it has happened for me now on my 15th Cycle but tis very early days currently so now have a whole new set of worries re miscarriage to contend with .

I am trying to relax though, I know that other than looking after myself and taking it easy when I can there is nothing more i can do to either help it along or stop me from losing it if it is not meant to be.

Thanks also for your message choolie.

I also see another thread has started for mums of 40 and over which is great. I see some of them think it is a bit weird that mums of 37 as I am, or younger as some of the other posters are, are describing themselves as older. I did not mean that generally, I really don't feel old at all and I do have a young son, all i meant was that in conception terms once you reach 35 it is a fact that you do then go into an older mum category whether you feel it or not!

Anyway I think best of luck to all of us in our 30's or our 40's, if all goes ok for me with this bean then I would not rule out trying for a third at 40!

That's another month gone down the drain. AF turned up on Wednesday 2 days early!
Although didn't really expect a BFP this month due to the problems I had with my back a few weeks back. Hope it's not going to take me 3 years this time. I'm going to use a CB Digital MOnitor this month. Is anyone else using one? Any tips or stories to hi-light?

birthdaycake · 02/09/2007 18:56

Bobby, you're right at 35 things do change obstetrically but somehow being 40 really ups the ante. I suspect that this is partly psychological but after 40 a ticking biological clock is deafening because I know that I'm on the run-up to the peri-menopause if not the main thing. I never thought I would feel like this and I don't feel old in any other respect. I was older than you when I had my first child and hope all goes well, statistically it should.

bobbydazzler · 02/09/2007 20:20

Thanks birthday cake and I really hope things work out for you. Because i got pregnant quickly with my first at 34 I was convinced all the way through this more stressful time TTC that it was taking longer cos I had passed 35, that may or may not have been true but pyschologically it did up the ante for me to.

Hope your back is improving Libralady? I have no experience to share of the clearblue digital ovulation kit but i did find the sticks where you had to try and interpret the lines useless.

xyzabc · 02/09/2007 20:41

fantastic! i wish you so much luck. im 40 and would love another baby but my husbands not keen, (plus hes fat and ugly now so id rather watch the telly anyway!) and yeah, just let nature take its course, dont worry about mc. you'll be fine. x x

lionlady · 03/09/2007 11:37

Bobbydazzler, hope you don't mind me joining this thread to say firstly congratulations, wishing you all the best wishes possible. I don't think its strange to be put in the category of older after 35 as I know thats the norm, guess it just makes us over 40's feel even older ! and definately a little envious that we have less years left and are feeling the pressure really mounting up. A baby is an incredible gift and at any age pregnancy is a wonderful and challenging thing. I for one wish I could have started sooner but couldn't for various health and non related reasons. Good luck.

Twinklewishes · 05/09/2007 11:35

I am 34 with 2dds, and was cd41 this morning.

Just thought that I had to tell someone. I have just got a bfp this morning. I don' t know how I managed it. (well yes I do, lol )

I did not really even try last month tc, only a couple of times. But I must have done something right. I thought that I would not bother and just wait to see if anything happened rather than try iykwim.

I think that because I did not constantly keep thinking about it, must have helped keep me relaxed. I think that the harder you try that harder it is to take disappointment, so therefore you feel even more low and therefore find it harder tc. I tried to forget about it and enjoy going out more and having a couple of weeks away and generally enjoying other things around me rather than worrying about myself.

I now have a lot to think about. Living in Spain is rather hard but I will have to try and make some plans.

So here I am, wishing good luck to all of you, hoping all goes well.

lionlady · 05/09/2007 12:39

Congratulations !! wonderful newss for you. This seems to be a common theme, I have a friend who did exactly the same thing, stopped worrying about and happened. Guess you have lots to think about living in Spain but great news.

libralady · 05/09/2007 18:23

Congratlations Twinklewishes. Let's hope we all follow suit very soon

libralady · 10/09/2007 18:54

Hi,

Am using CB Digital monitor and have had a peak reading the last 2 days so plenty of bding at the moment sorry if TMI. At least shows that I appear to be ovulating. After last time before DS I had been told that I didn't ovulate and that the best course of treatment would be clomid. Picked up the prescription only to find out 2 days later I was alrready pg! Here's praying (quietly but not wishing to get my hopes up) AF due 26th whilst I am on holiday but will try to hold out testing until early October if no AF by then. Could be a nice birthday and wedding anniversary present as celebrate both of these on 2nd October when still on holiday!

lionlady · 10/09/2007 21:58

Will keep everything crossed for you libralady ! I have also just had the smiley face on the CB monitor over the weekend so understand. I am also on holiday on 2nd October lets hope for another coincidence and two smiley faces

libralady · 16/10/2007 18:39

Just thought I'd bump this thread as it's been a while to see how everyone is.
Now CD21 of 4th cycle ttc#2. Avidly sympton spotting.

libralady · 20/10/2007 13:25

OMFG!!!!
Am CD 25 and have been up since 6am today as DS decided to wake early.
Went to the loo first thing and didn't think about anything, but at 9am went again (completely unusual as hadn't drunk anything) and decided on the off chance to test as I've got some cheapy test off e-bay and am sure I can see a very faint 2nd line. Showed it to DH as thought I might be seeing things (wishing it more likely) and even he thinks he can see a very very faint 2nd line (and he doesn't know where the second line should show).
Have had sore (.)(.)s for a week now and cramp feelings for the last few days. Not going to get my hopes up too much until I am actually late. AF not due until Wednesday. Am I being stupid and imagining things as I want a 2nd so badly!!!!

libralady · 22/10/2007 21:48

Did another test before I went to work this morning and completely forgot about it ( I did leave for the office mega early) and DH and I have just checked it together and there it was............................... a BFP on CD 27
Now in total shock. Didn't want to consider the very very faint line on Saturday was anything to get excited about.

ladyhelen2 · 24/10/2007 16:53

Congratulations libra lady!I'd've tested and tested and tested again by now! I'm delighted there is some good news.

I'm 37 tomorrow and TTC #2. DS is now 2.4years. Been trying for 6 months and am currently having reflexology to help as am now getting OBSESSED with getting that BFP as soon as possible.

I had convinced myself that at 4 days late this month I was getting that BFP this month, but AF struck Sunday morning. Cycles had been 28/29 days and no more so this has really confused me. So I've just bought 30 cheapie OPKs off ebay as I think I may test every day from the moment AF stops!

Happy birthday to me for tomorrow, and hoping there are some more BFPs on this thread soon.

Sprogstersmum · 24/10/2007 20:10

Can I join you all? Will be 36 in a couple of weeks and have been ttcing for No.2 since Jan - had mc in June and no luck since then. Pretty down about the whole thing actually. CD10 so will be starting BDing again now - am going for the every other night rather than every night approach this month to see if that makes any difference. Am also using OV tests and have a regular cycle so at least am lucky enough to know that I am hitting the right days. Sorry, haven't managed to read the whole thread but hello to everyone and congrats to Libra Lady!
