Low progesterone

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been through this and knows what will/might happen next.

I had day 2 and day 21 bloods taken and my doctor called today to let me know day 21 progesterone is low (didn't give me a number but I will ask when I go in) he asked if I had been referred to a fertility unit yet and I haven't so he said I need to go into my doctors and speak to someone about next steps.

The earliest appointment they have is on the 9th, 11 days away from now which is unusual as I can always get in with someone the same day usually.

I'm assuming it's maybe with someone that specialises in fertility as my doctors is a medical centre so they do a few different things there.

Has anyone had an appointment like this, do you think it will just be to discuss things or does anyone think there will be the possibility of having something prescribed at this appointment, I only ask as I have been trying for over 2 and a half years a now and losing another month where I am probably not ovulating is getting me down.

Sorry for the long post! Any help would be great :)

How long are your cycles? You need to have the test done 7 days before your period but I have shorter cycles so went on cd19, so if you have longer cycles, you'd need to go later. This can account for low progesterone when it was actually just done on the wrong day.

Saying that, you're eligible to be referred to the fertility clinic, so good to hear your surgery is being proactive.

I'm under the fertility clinic now and at my GP appointment I was also referred for a scan while dh has sent for sperm analysis.

I've since had an hsg (dye in tubes) and waiting on a hysteroscopy (camera in uterus).

Good luck 🤞

Hi @Beckyttc I've just been referred to the fertility clinic and I had to have a few things done at the docs before they could refer me -

Blood test (LH, FSH, Testosterone, etc.)
STI swab (chlamydia and gonorrhoea)
MMR jab (I'd only had 1 as a child apparently), you have to miss a cycle TTC after this as it's a live vaccine,

They also weighed me and asked about smoking to ensure I met the criteria.

When I got my letter from the FC they specifically requested the dates that each of these tests were carried out and said that any that hadn't would need to be done at the GP practice before they could add me to the waiting list.

It's unlikely you will be prescribed anything by your GP. They will probably just get all the info they need for the referral.
