Pregnancy Symptoms - Help??

Hi guys. My husband and I have only just started TTC. We DTD on 22/07/19. I’ve never been able to track my cycle as it has always been irregular and I have been on various forms of contraception for the last 10 years due to being so irregular and the amount of pain I experienced. I’m 24 and ready for a family now. I was due to start my monthly flow on the 26th of this month from what I can work out.

Sorry if TMI - I haven’t come on the same as I normally do, instead I’ve had only a very light flow, only there when I wipe and it’s a light pink with no clots. It ended after 2 and a half days, my flow is normally heavy and painful and lasts at least 5 days. When I searched why this might be it mentioned implantation bleeding which seems similar to what I’m experiencing but surely I can’t get pregnant on the first try? That seems crazy.

On top of this, I’ve had mild cramping and a weird pressure in my lower abdomen, I’ve been nauseous and experiencing infrequent headaches since the bleeding started. I also have tender and sometimes itchy breasts. The bleeding has now stopped but I’m still getting the symptoms. I’ve had mood swings and increased fatigue, I’m experiencing aversions to foods that I like and I’m constipated too.

I did a clear blue digital test (stupidly) when the symptoms started and it of course came back negative as it was too early. Since then I’ve bought a two pack of cheap tests to do today (8 days since DTD) that turned out to be faulty (one was broken and the other somehow had dye run without ever even being used).

Could this be pregnancy or is my body really capable of mimicking pregnancy to this extent when my period is due? I’m not taking my last digital test until Sunday to make sure I’ve left it a full two weeks, but meanwhile the symptoms are really taking it out of me.

Has anybody else had this experience and then turned out to not be pregnant and it’s just their monthly witch visiting with a vengeance? Please help and sorry for the long post.

When did you stop contraception and was it hormonal? When you stop hormonal contraception it can mimic the signs of pregnancy. It’s really weird and you’d swear blind you were but the tears are negative.

I’d just wait and see for now as it could be hormone withdrawal and your cycle reestablishing

Tests not tears. I give up with the spell checker 🤦‍♀️

I was on the Nexplanon implant for five years, before that I was on the injection, I came off that and went onto the Desogestrel pill with the view that I’d stop taking it when we were ready. Towards the end of having my implant my monthlies started to regulate, and when I switched to the pill my first monthly stayed the same, around the 26th of each month. I was on the pill for about 3 weeks and came off of it a day or two before DTD.

The symptoms I’m getting are crazy, how cruel that pregnancy symptoms are the same as menstrual symptoms right?

I don’t think I’ll be pregnant already as it would literally have to have stuck on the first go but I’ll take a test on Sunday and wait and see. There’s always next month. Can only being on the pill for a short time cause more weird symptoms or less? Thanks for your help.

And on the plus side, if it’s my cycle re-establishing itself I’ll be able to track when I’m ovulating properly!

Hi @MrsGeeHill did you get your BFP?

peanutsandpinenuts · 07/08/2019 21:17

Really feel for you@MrsGeeHill I’ve been in the exact position as you, with the very mild spotting, slightly bloated, painful breast - all the symptoms and in the end its a BFN! So annoying!

I’ve been TTC for about 11 months now after years and years of hormonal contraception, and I’ve learn’t that most of my cycles are slightly different with pre-period symptoms that can look a lot like pregnancy when you want that BFN so much.

This month I’m bloated, tired, a touch nauseous and off my food in the morning, and AF was due five days ago. But I’m so sick of getting my hopes up only to get my period a couple of days later. Going to wait till its a week late before testing.

Fingers crossed for us both.
