Quick OPK question - positive? Try and DTD again tonight?

Cycle 4, TTC #1. Been on and off the TTC threads but have been taking a break as not helping anxiety! However I have a question...

So I’ve been suspecting I OV late in cycle, cycle length usually 32 days although 36 last month (first month on pregnacare rather than seven seas?) Tried OPK cheapies On cycle 2 and got disheartened as nothing showing on even day 19.

Using clearblue digital this month and got flashing smileys on days 18, 19 and 20 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). Static smiley Thursday morning on CD21 which I’m delighted about (if a little worried about shorter luteal phase).

Took a cheap OPK yesterday evening and got this - would we reckon a positive?

Essentially my week has been:
Monday - flashy smiley, DTD
Tuesday - flashing smiley
Wednesday - flashing smiley, DTD
Thursday - static smiley, this OPK, DTD

My question is whether I should push to DTD tonight? I know my clearblue is still showing a static as it does for 48 hours. DH is a bit knackered from the last two nights and I suspect is feeling the pressure a bit but would step up if necessary Wink I just don’t want to push him if it’s really unlikely and last nights OPK is a sign things have already got going and we’re already in the waiting game.

Maybe another OPK when I get home this evening and if as strong as/stronger than yesterday’s we do it?

Thoughts very welcome!

Yes!! Positive OPK means you will ovulate in the next 24-48 hours, so make sure you do tonight, even if it's just a quickie!

Dollywilde · 26/07/2019 09:46

Hehe, I thought as much! Was only thinking that the static smiley on the clearblue counted as a positive but then I guess tonight is still less than 48 hours since testing yesterday morning. I'm still not super confident about the cheapy lines though - if I tested tonight around 6ish and it was weaker than yesterday's 6pm test, it's probably still worth a go, right? Just don't want to put too much pressure on DH as we've struggled a little with performance anxiety (and it's sweltering here!)

I'm in the same boat - got my solid smiley yesterday and did 2 IC Opks yesterday (11am and 7pm - yes I am mental) which were both positive. Then did another this morning and the line was a bit lighter but going to DTD today just in case. It's far too hot for TTC!!!
Yeah I know what you mean about husbands and performance pressure. We definitely had that when TTC#1. But either way it sounds like you've given it a great shot this month. Good luck xxxx

Thanks HGpg! I'm a bit bored of the whole thing now I'm onto Cycle 4 (obviously with all sympathies to those who are taking longer, just meaning that if motivating ourselves for more TTC this evening gets us onto the next stage this month it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!)

Am currently trying to resist drinking another tea/glass of water so that an early evening OPK definitely shows if it's worth another go, I reckon a solid line might be enough to persuade DH it's worth a shot ;-) good luck to you too! x

@Dollywilde is this your first month using the clear blue digital?

I'm on cycle 2 and we've decided to try one for August was gutted when AF showed up, I've heard good reviews about them!

You are in front of me AF has just gone so not due to ovulate for over a week but please let me know how you get on! Good luck! X

Yakadee · 28/07/2019 09:21

@Dollywilde - I would try talk him into it 😝 certainly worth another go! For info, we used the CB kits and I really liked them. Took us 2 months to catch on (very lucky) x

FearnRJ · 28/07/2019 13:08

@Yakadee the advanced one is on offer in boots at the minute £19.99 instead of £26.99 so got one of those. Only 10 sticks though so probably only going to get 1 months use out of it x

Yakadee · 28/07/2019 13:32

@FearnRJ - that's not bad! Good luck. I also found preseed to be good, the month we got pregnant was the first time we had used it. (It's not that cheap and obviously could just be a coincidence, but I thought it was Brill) xx

ReeReeR · 28/07/2019 13:46

You don’t have to keep dtd if it’s becoming stressful / tiring etc. You ov 12-36 hours after a +ve OPK and the egg lasts for about 24 hours so realistically you are fertile for 2 days after your positive OPK. Obviously the more you dtd the better your chances but it can cause more hassle if you really don’t feel like it. This cycle DH and I dtd about four times in the lead up to ov including day of +ve OPK but then that was it as it was getting stressful for us.

ReeReeR · 28/07/2019 13:47

I use CB Connect (connects to an app) and they were quite a bit cheaper on Amazon than they are in Boots

FearnRJ · 28/07/2019 14:13

@Yakadee what does pre seed do?

Thanks I'm hoping this is the month but we will see it's only our 2nd cycle so not getting my hopes up! X

ReeReeR · 28/07/2019 14:15

Preseed is a fertility friendly lubricant. Regular lines can kill sperm. Preseed doesn’t. It is not clear either Preseed actually helps you get pregnant (as compared to not using any live) and is better than nothing or is simply better than using a non-fertility friendly lube

ReeReeR · 28/07/2019 14:16

Sorry “lube” autocorrecting to “live” 😬🤷🏻‍♀️

Yakadee · 28/07/2019 22:36

@FearnRJ - it's lube basically, but it doesn't stop sperm getting to where it needs to go like the usual kind does. Might be worth a luck although like you say, it's only early days (but who knows!). Good luck x

ReeReeR · 28/07/2019 23:29

@Yakadee I had to think about which thread I knew you from - it was the Feb 2019 babies thread. Hope you’re doing well x

Yakadee · 29/07/2019 06:44

@ReeReeR - yes I am, how're you? How're things? X
