Has anyone ever got pregnant while using contraception?
Just wondered really as they say they are 99% effective but I wondered if anyone is the 1% it didn't work for?

For me personally no, but my best friend and SIL both got pregnant due to contraception failure.

ChangesAt30 · 25/07/2019 21:01

Nope I haven't Smile

I'll be honest, when people I know have fallen pregnant due to a contraception failure, I always wonder how genuine that is because I'm a judgmental cow

LiveEachDay · 25/07/2019 22:13

That's sort of what I was thinking but then I'm sure someone can't have an impact on the way somthing like the implant or coil works? Can they ? Confused

My cousin did on the coil.

On time it also fell out in the shower.

She was a big girl so don't know if that played a part in it 🤷‍♀️

My sil did on the pill whilst on a sting antibiotic which interferes with the pill.

Nothing is 100%

Mummylanie3 · 25/07/2019 23:53

I did twice on the pill once after anti biotics and the other after a sickness bug my friend also got pregnant on coil it didn't fall out but had moved so sperm could get through

LiveEachDay · 26/07/2019 18:17

Oh my gosh her coil fell out I could never imagine that happening!
The pill I hear mostly of not working but I know there are more things you can do to prevent the pill working such as antibiotics as oppose to the other birth controls out there.

My coil fell out! I had the copper one in for 4 years before my first pregnancy with no issues, had it removed for first baby. Had another copper one in a couple months after birth & it fell out on period no.3! It made me periods incredible heavy, like crazy heavy & so my doctor thinks it literally got pushed out.. it didn’t hurt, just a peculiar scratching feeling! Thankfully it didn’t result in pregnancy!

ChangesAt30 · 27/07/2019 07:49

Yeah, I know people who've been on antibiotics/the pill and fell pregnant but I don't consider that a genuine contraception failure.

I'm pretty sure you're told about such as that when you get prescribed it - if you don't take proper precautions when you know your pill is being interferes with then that's not the fault of the contraception, it's the fault of the user 🤷‍♀️

My mum with me! She was on the pill and was strict and it just happened. I have 2 sisters who are 6 and 8 years older so I defo was not planned. Also, my sister did when she was on he pill (although ended in mc).

TheMonaOgg · 27/07/2019 14:21

Yes I have. 2 whilst on the pill so I switched to Depo injections and conceived DS4 midway between injections! My GP at the time helpfully said that there was evidence that hormonal contraception wasn't always effective on everyone and that I was probably also super fertile. My then DH decided, luckily, to have a vasectomy.

MaverickSnoopy · 27/07/2019 14:36

Yes DC3 wasn't planned. We conceived due to condom failure. Was used properly and all normal afterwards. I know the exact occasion that it happened because we didn't have sex for a while either side of the particular event. I don't know whether it plays a part but I fall pregnant incredibly easily.

BoomerangLurker · 27/07/2019 15:08

My mum conceived three times on the pill! I'm definitely the odd one out in my family when it comes to conceiving everyone else falls pregnant just by looking at someone Sad
