My friend has twins thanks to ICSI. Don't know much about it but she had a few IVF attempts before trying ICSI.

Good luck to your friend.

I have a dd from our second ICSI - it's just an extra procedure during IVF where the sperm is injected directly into the egg. Success rates will depend on why it's being done i.e. whether the issue is quantity or quality. Jill

if she has a good number and quality of eggs make sure they do half to ivf and half to icsi, this is only advisable if loads of eggs.

That sounds about right. I wouldn't do half and half myself - probably not advisable if there isn't enough sperm. People tend to do that if they are not sure if there is a male factor problem or not but have a reasonable qunatity. JIll

DS is an ICSI boy - will be 6 on Sunday!

Worked first time too.

Wasn't so successful with second attempt but that is down to me being 6 years older.

I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant after our first attempt at ICSI in January of this year. We were told that ICSI was our only chance to have a baby, due to issues with both quality and quantity of dh's sperm.

For the couple, the process is the same as IVF, the ICSI bit happens in the lab.

And yes a 30% success rate sounds about right, we were very lucky for our first attempt to work.

I wish your friend good luck and success

Hugs,
Artoo.

I had half icsi and have ivf on first attempt and concieved ds1. Then had a frozen embryo transfer (fet) that failed then on one last ditch attempt had ivf and concieved twins
