Confused about OPK results

I don’t know my cycle as this is my first cycle off the pill. I’m currently on CD39 and no sign of any period.
Ive been using OPKs the past 3 weeks (the one step strip ones off eBay) and I’ve been getting the control line and an extremely faint test line so I’ve assumed them all to be negative. However I’ve been reading the results within 5 minutes then chucking them out. I’ve just emptied the bin and a couple of them have darkish test lines on?! It says not to read results after 30 mins so I dont know what to think.

Hey, OPKs can be a nightmare to read! I find that if your urine is too dilute it doesn't give a great reading, but when I have had a positive result in the past it has been obvious and the line is much darker than the control line. I try to test twice a day so not to miss the surge also! Have you tried checking cervical mucus also?x

I think you can check them up to about 10 mins. The line has to be as dark as the control line to actually be positive, as LH levels can fluctuate before the proper surge, especially if you have irregular cycles (which I assume is the case from the rest of your post).

It can take time to hormones to settle after coming off the pill, so things might not have settled down enough for cycle to restart. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take long!
