Hey guys
We've just started TTC for baby number one. No idea how long it will take so trying not to focus on it too much (difficult!!!) Just wanted to asked what people do when planning hols etc. I have friends and family that want to book holidays for next year, but I have no idea what position we will be in... pregnant, too pregnant to fly, newborn baby???!!! How does everyone deal with it without letting the world know I'm hoping to fall pregnant?!

Can you suggest some uk holidays? Those would be easily compatible with most situations e.g. renting a cottage near the seaside or similar?

I personally put my life on hold and refused to book anything further than 6 months into the future... only to find out that we are facing infertility and it was all for nothing!

With 1 year in the future I would think about whether I could afford to cover costs and not go if I was too pregnant, or if there was someone else who could take my place on the trip.

I’d personally not book a very expensive holiday well in advance unless you can get a cancellation guarantee.. I’m certainly not saying put your life on hold but holidays can be booked a bit nearer the time. Would you feel comfortable telling your friends that you’d like to start a family soon & so would rather not book a holiday so far in advance? Orrr, you could maybe just say money is tight at the moment & you don’t want to commit to anything just yet? It’s a toughy with holidays, we said no to one next summer recently as we were trying.. we will go away next summer but we can’t afford to lose the money booking a year ahead!

I would try not to focus too early on about whether you should book this or that. I've been ttc for 13 months and I'd have been pretty cross if I hadn't booked my summer holiday on a just in case.

Totally agree. Trying not to put my life on hold for something which may not happen for a while. Think if booking can't be delayed, it will have to be a no and use the money excuse. We can always book something more last minute just the two of us. In the mean time fingers crossed for a positive result soon 🤞
