Confusing EWCM

For a bit of background, I'm 38 years old, in my second month of TTC. Last month my usually 28-day cycle went on for 33 days - not sure why. Maybe a fluke, maybe a very early chemical, or maybe just me psychologically willing myself to be pg!

Anyway, my next ovulation is due this coming Sunday according to Flo, and early next week according to a new app I'm using called Premom.

However, today I got a flood of EWCM, and for the past few days I've been feeling really, um, in the mood. DP and I aren't living together at the moment, so Friday afternoon is the soonest we will be able to DTD. If ovulation happens on Sunday, this is fine, but I'm worried it might happen sooner and we'll miss the window.

I have some OPK strips but I'm not super keen to use them yet, as I'm trying to stay relaxed (!!) about TTC.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is, can EWCM start so soon before predicted ovulation? Or could my cycle be a bit out of whack due to suspected chemical last month?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Bez

Normally I have 5 days of EWCM and I ovulate on the last day but there’s no guarantee either way

That's interesting, Help. Makes sense as well, as the fertile window is longer before ovulation than after. I will keep tracking it, and hope it continues until at least Friday!

Everyone is different. I only have 1 or 2 days of ewcm then I ovulate 4 or 5 days later (but then I am an OAP in the ttc world and I guess things are slowing down)
You'll need to figure out what is normal for you. And starting the process can throw our cycles off a little as even though we try to be 'relaxed' we aren't! And the back of our minds it's there and causing stress and wobbles

Those apps just give a guess on your ovulation date, so it's entirely possible that you personally ovulate on day 12/16/17 of a 28 day cycle instead of day 14 which is what the apps predict. If you're getting fertile signs then you're best off DTD now (which I know you unfortunately said you can't) or just hope they continue long enough to make it til Friday afternoon.

Thanks Cleozeta. I think my extra long cycle last month threw me off, both in terms of calculating dates and my own feelings about TTC. Trying so hard not to wind myself up over it, but it's kind of a huge thing, this trying to create a new human being! My age adds a bit of stress onto things too.

Lewk, that's true. I could be ovulating on a completely different day than the apps predict. I used to get really bad ovulation pain, but that seems to have stopped now that I'm ttc, which is a bit annoying.

Right now I'm counting down the days until Friday! DP and I are planning our wedding at the moment, which is sort of taking my mind off TTC but not completely.
