8 days late- brown discharge- faint BFP

Ok, so this is absolutely ridiculous y'all. I have never in my life been so late (8 freaking days!!!) Now I got a very faint BFP on Saturday afternoon. It was confirmed by my sister and since then I have been getting second lines on those cheapie one step strips (also got one on a Poundland strip.)

Saturday evening I started bleeding so automatically i thought another Chemical pregnancy. i did ring out of hours GP who told me that because I'm not in pain and I haven't ot heavy clots that it could just be spotting. Sunday the bleeding continued with pink and brown spotting and now (two whole days) I have this brown gunky discharge but still no pain.

I have rang the doctors this morning and he told me to come in on Thursday when I would be 6 weeks to do testing and so he can potentially refer me to have an early scan the next day. He's prescribed me folic acid in the meantime.

Could this be implantation bleeding? My periods normally last 6 days and I only get this brown stuff by that last day, not on the second. And I have never had second lines on tests before.

Does anyone have any positive stories like this? Where they've been really late and had spotting and got a BFP later?

I don’t know what it could be, I always thought implantation bleeding was around 7-10 days after ovulation. So if you were 8 days late, it would be too late for implantation bleeding. I had implantation bleeding with this current pregnancy. A little pinky blood a day or two before I was due - figured I must be coming on, but i didn’t start the following day and a pregnancy test confirmed I was pregnant.

My thoughts are is It’s possible you ovulated very late into your cycle? If it’s brown blood it could be old blood from the implantation bleeding.

Hope the Dr confirms good news for you Smile

Also even a faint faint line could be a positive. So if retest in a couple of days or try clear blue or similar digital test.

@Blondiejay24 well according to my doctor the egg can stay in the tubes for several days and it doesn't automatically implant? I don't know. I find it all very confusing.

I don't think I have ovulated late in my cycle as I've had my period since I was 9 and I have never had a period late as this. My ovulation has always been quite regular, only changing by a few days. Even if I have ovulated late this would be far too late. Longest cycle I've ever had was 33 days and that was once last year!

Doctors have told me that a line is a line no matter how faint but everyone keeps telling me that they had really dark ones by now so I should prepare myself for a chemical.

And even if this was my period it's far too dark. I normally have bright red blood with thick clots that drip out of me lol. Idk. I just wish it was a bit more straight forward.

That’s what I meant by 7-10 days until implantation. I read if it is fertilised then it can take 7-10 days to make its way down and implant.

And yes, agree a line is a line. I’ve had a faint positive that turned into a clear positive within a few days.

NikolaPiccola · 16/07/2019 16:20

@Blondiejay24 I took another one today and it was a lot more obvious. I read it within the time frame as well. I haven't had any pain or more bleeding (apart from tinges of pink and brown on the occasion, nothing on my underwear) so I'm remaining hopeful. Will test again on Thursday!

Brilliant news! Must just be the implantation bleeding them. I expect we all et different amounts. As long as it’s not bright red I think it’s nothing to worry about.
Grin congrats!

I’m going through this right now. Any updates?!

Needahaircut81 · 22/09/2020 05:51

Shhme also going through same thing! It's so confusing. Have you done a test?
I haven't, as too scared of being disappointed. Have been trying for 2 years, so had a lot of negative tests.
Have been spotting light brown for 2 days now, keep thinking my period will come but it hasn't yet. Cycle day 36 😶

Pawaskar · 11/02/2021 05:20

I know this is an old post but any updates? Going through the same

Nicha2020 · 19/07/2021 05:15

Any update on this?
I'm 7 days late. I've done 4 tests now all faint positives and this morning I had brown spotting in my underwear. I never had any spotting/bleeding in my last pregnancy.
Yesterday I had quite painful back ache.
Any advice / ideas?
Devastatingly my partner and I lost our baby girl last year when she was 2.5 months old due to a congenital heart condition and we're desperate to have another one to somehow try and full the huge void in our lives that losing her has created.

DRich21 · 27/09/2021 06:51

I have been dealing with pinkish brown discharge with minor cramps in lower abdominal and now it has turned it to a solid brown discharge for 8 days now and still a negative pregnancy test,I don't feel good and I'm moody and very sleepy 😴idk whats going on I went to the ER they told they couldn't tell if I'm pregnant or if my cycle was trying to come on so they told me to wait a few days but I be feeling faintish and my head be hurting so I been laying down I do t of it implantation or not

Eaaustin72 · 14/04/2023 23:15

Hi! I’m having the same issue right now.
7days late. No period. Negative pregnancy test. I’ve never missed a period. Did you end up pregnant?? I’m current spotting brown only while wiping.

Eaaustin72 · 14/04/2023 23:17
