Myself and my partner are trying for a baby. I stopped taking my pill in April 2018 but nothing has happened yet and starting to get really worried and stressed. Had bloods taken at doctors, everything came back fine and going back for ovulation bloods soon. Everyone I speak to fell pregnant months after stopping their contraception and I am imaging the worst possible scenario. I was wondering, if people would be happy to share, how long did it take you to conceive after stopping contraception? Xx

Hi OP. It's totally normal for it to take a while for your cycles to re-set after being on contraception. I honestly can't remember how long mine took to settle but it's only been 3 months for you! I know it's hard and frustrating but it's totally normal.

Thank you for your reply. My periods have started again, but not always like clock work. It has been 15 months as it was April last year. Starting to get really worried and anxious

Ahh sorry OP I miss read your post and thought it was April this year.

WhiskersPete · 13/07/2019 22:21

It took 18 months for my periods to return after stopping the pill - both times.

WhiskersPete · 13/07/2019 22:24

What I mean is, it could take over a year for your cycle to settle then over a year to conceive and that would be normal.

@Laurenbone848 hi, I haven't conceived yet but I came off the pill around May last year. And we've been trying since August, but still nothing has happened.

I know exactly how you feel as I've been really stressed so just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I've had blood tests, scans and my husband has had sperm tests and all came back absolutely fine so I'm just hoping it will eventually happen Sad

Fingers crossed we get pregnant in the next few months then at least we will have lovely summer babies Smile

How old are you? I'm 30

Xxx

Hiya,

I'm in a similar position. Have been ttc #2 since sept last year and still nothing, AF arrived this morning so feeling very down.
My cycles have been a bit long and all over the place since coming off the pill.

It only took 3 months to conceive my son, so am also starting to get worried something is wrong Sad

Hi ladies. I was on the pill for about 13 years and then when I came off it, it took me a year to have a period and a year and a half for my periods to become regular (although not often). We tried to conceive for a while and had tests and everything came back fine. Turns out I wasn't ovulating when I expected to ovulate and I didn't find this out until I started temping (I used the Natural Cycles app) and then fell pregnant in Oct 2018 (ended in MMC) but then fell pregnant again in Feb 2019 (ended in MC) and again in April 2019 and I'm now currently 15 weeks and everything is going well so far (fingers crossed). I would honestly give temping a go! It really worked for me! Good luck
