Hi all. I am on the coil and have checked the strings are there and in place etc, i have been on the coil for around 16 months now. I have been experiencing pregnancy symptoms, sore boobs, slight cramps, sickness and fatigue. I havent missed a period as such, but since having the coil put in i dont really get a period and if i do it just comes and goes whenever it likes really. I know it is pretty much impossible to get pregnant on the coil (mirena) but i took a test anyway because of the strong symptoms, and it is negative, i think?? I know what a positive pregnancy test looks like but i feel like my mind is playing tricks on me and possibly making me panic thinking i can see a second line? Opinions please

I feel like I can see a line too 🤦🏽‍♀️ Could you get hold of a frer?? My mum fell pregnant with me on the coil 😕 anyway hope you get some answers!!!xx

Is this an Asda freedom test? As they can be really bad for evap lines. A frer would be better to make sure either way. I hope you get the result you want

I’ve had the mirina for a year. Last month I was having all the pregnancy symptoms, and my ‘period’ started. A few hours later I was in agony and passing clots. I Phoned NHS helpline and they said to do a test. I done 6- 4 were positive, and 2 were negative. I miscarried. By the morning the bleeding had slowed down. They did say to go to hospital if I had pain in my shoulder, chest or side as it could be ectopic. But I was fine.

I also feel pregnant 4 times on the combined pill, and once on the mini pill whilst breastfeeding- my surgery’s nurse calls me a ‘fertile myrtle’.

Thanks and omg i didnt think it was heard off to get pregnant on the coil! Thats crazy as it is 99% effective (apparently!) and yes it is actually an asda test so im guessing it may be that! I will wait a few days and try frer

It's actually quite important that you get a FRER asap and test again. If you are pregnant with the coil, you can be at quite high risk of an ectopic pregnancy. Please get in touch with your GP. I can see a second line on your test!

Oh no, i will run out and get one in the morn. Im glad its not just my eyes! And now im also aware that it is very possible to become pregnant on the coil! Ive been being sick alot and i am never sick usually!

I knew there was a slim chance, I had the copper coil for 12 years and was always s fine, so it was a bit of a shock to me too! Someone else I was speaking to on here a few weeks back also conceived on the coil.

Funny thing is, I was paranoid at first regarding my periods stopping on the coil, because what if they stopped because I was pregnant? So I was testing twice a week from having it in, and always negative. Then April come and I thought I’m being stupid, so stopped, and then I find out I’m miscarrying. Felt like a sick joke from the universe! I obviously don’t want to be pregnant, and neither does dp, but it didn’t stop me from being upset over it. I also felt a phoney, because I didn’t want a baby, so why was I getting so upset? As my nurse said to me ‘you may not have wanted a baby, but you are still allowed to grieve for the baby you have lost’.

I have took one this morning its not a frer but it does say that it detects pregnancy from 4 days before period is due so im guessing it works similar. This one is definitely negative. Ill attach pics. Confusing.. will just wait to see if i get any kind of period this month. I usually have a bit of spotting each month since ive had the coil but no actual period so its all a bit confusing when i start getting these symptoms lol.
