Could I be pregnant?

Had an error with a condom on Sunday morning. Took the morning after pill within 6 hours of unprotected sex. Just had light spotting which I've never experienced and my period isn't due.
If this is implantation bleeding when would I get a positive test?

Feeling worried :(

Hopeful bump up :( I'm embarking on a big career change and this really would be a bad time

I don't track my periods and in my worry I can't recall exactly when I was last on my period. So my questions really is if this is implantation and I only had unprotected sex on Sunday when would a test give me a reliable answer?

Nope, it’s too early to test. If you happened to conceive on Sunday (or indeed afterwards, sperm lives up there for a few days), you are only 5days past ovulation at most. The earliest the most responsive test will show is 9/10 days past ovulation and even then, not always.

It also seems a little early for implantation bleeding, usually occurs 7-10 days after sperm meets egg..

While pregnancy is not impossible, I’d say unlikely. You took the morning after pill in good time. You could give a test a go next week if you are still worried.. but I recon you are probs ok!

It seems so unlikely doesn't it - pill was taken quickly after with no upset tummy or sickness so I have no reason to think the pill failed. But this is the first time in my life I've ever and spotting so it's thrown me into doubt! Thanks for responding. I will give it a week and take a test to put my mind at rest

The spotting could be a side effect of the morning after pill as that can cause irregular bleeding. From what you've said, it's so much more likely that's the case 😊

CmdrCressidaDuck · 12/07/2019 22:19

The spotting is more likely to be a side effect of the MAP.

I have a daughter from a failed morning after pill. So it didn’t work for me. Probably not what you wanted to hear. I also had some bleeding so I thought I was coming on.
Not sure if that was because of the morning after pill though.
I do hope it all works out for you.

Unless you know exactly when you ovulated, there's no way of realistically guessing. I took the MAP on the day I ovulated & it did diddly squat (thank god now, 6 years on!) Good luck OP x

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will
Update on a few weeks...

I would agree that the spotting is more related to the hormones in the morning after pill.
