Ok, so today I went for the first chat at the fertility clinic. Started spotting today and due my period anyway so first proper but light (normally) flow should be tomorrow. So she sent me across to have the day 1 bloods. I did ask if it should be first day of flow or is spotting considered day 1, but she said today is fine.

I'm so confused, I feel like it's been done early and will be inaccurate Sad. I really don't want to add more time on to this journey just because of this....

I’d be quite happy with it, they’ll probably do day 3 and 21 (or 7 days before AF) bloods, so at least you’re not waiting another month?

She didn't mention 3? Do you mean repeat 21, so 3 tests? Or day 3?

If it's not going to make much difference then it's fine. It's just I've read lots that you shouldn't count the spotting as day 1, day 1 is the first day of proper flow.

You’re right, CD1 is usually the first day of full flow, but they also take cd3 (for FSH and LH) and then cd21.
I think that they’re probably trying to understand your baseline at CD1, and so there probably isn’t much of a difference.
How many days do you usually spot for?

Pinkstars2501 · 11/07/2019 21:23

Only the one. Then light flow for a day or so. Full on for about three, then slows down. Total days from spotting back to spotting/tailing off between 7-9. I have stage 3 endo so they're a little longer than the average.

I know we can repeat if necessary I guess, just threw me a bit.

To be fair to you, it would throw me a bit too but there mustn’t be enough in it to keep you waiting for another cycle :)
