Understanding ovulation

I usually get a week of ovulation pain around CD 10-16 and right in the middle of that I get maybe one small amount of ewcm.
This month I had two small lots of ewcm on two separate days CD 11/12 but no cramps, then one day day of sticky white CM on CD14 then the painful ovulation cramps today on CD15.
Would I have been more likely to ovulate when I had ewcm or today when I had the pain but non fertile Cm?

EWCM is usually a day or two before Ov, but some women can experience up to 5 days of it before Ov.
Once you Ov, it dries up really quickly within a matter of hours to a day, unless you have something like PCOS.

Mine hasn’t dried up but also isn’t ewcm. I can’t understand how you can get cramps after ewcm (as if ovulation was happening) but have the non fertile type Cm....if the cramps mean ovulation I won’t be able to conceive anyway will I if the conditions aren’t right?

I think you can still have some non-EWCM after Ov., so it sounds like you may have Ov already.
Do you temp at all or use OPKs? I think it’s sometimes better to get a view using a few different methods for a complete picture?
Also, if your CM was watery, that’s also classed as highly fertile, so don’t worry too much about the EWCM in that instance.

It was watery yesterday evening but had also had creamy (very small amount) too. Wonder why I would have had the intense cramps lasting most of the day if I had ovulated back on Sunday when I had the ewcm. Usually I can pin point the exact day due to the ewcm and pain but now I don’t know what to put on my app.

Maybe your body geared up for it and then it took a few more days to actually Ov?
As I say, the EWCM proceeds Ov so you may well have Ov a few days later!
My Ov was delayed this month for some reason so my EWCM was all over the place, and I would have missed it if I hadn’t used OPKs and then confirmed with temps.
Good luck :)

Thanks for explaining that. I’m on cycle 5 and start to think I’m getting the hang of it all then my body throws a spanner in the works at it all becomes confusing again.

It’s a minefield to be fair!
I’d honestly recommend monitoring your CM with one other method like OPKs or temping so you can get a better view - it really helps me :)

From what I understand, it's irrelevant which exact day you ovulate on. Best just to have sex around the time of ovulation (especially the days building up to it) as that way there's less pressure on things which is conducive to being more in the mood / more spontaneous sex. Just my opinion though - feel free to ignore! Smile
