Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

Again sorry for how long that was!!

@Skyla01 I find it amazing! The lady I go to was highly recommended by several ladies, so that speaks volumes. I definitely feel so so good afterwards. It's a bit of me time 💜

@AllHopeAndNoResults test again and see if the line is darker. I was shocked to see that my opk went from a barely there line to positive in 24 hours

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 17:37

@carastarchild I tested again but it’s lighter so I’m confused. I’m just going to dtd tonight, tomorrow and then every other day. This is the annoying part for me doing SMEP because I actually can’t bloody pin point!

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 02/08/2019 17:50

Thank you @Carastarchild. I've stopped measuring my temperature as I don't want to worry myself but it did go back up yesterday morning. I'm quite cross with the reflexologist. Am going to wait until I get a stronger line then will email her.

@AllHopeAndNoResults my opks never fully got positive but close and I seemed to ovulate quickly after. Fingers crossed this is your green light 🤞

Sperm Meets Egg (hopefully)
AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 17:56

@VenusStarr yes she doesn’t seem reliable at all, surely if she wasn’t sure she shouldn’t have mentioned anything! Either way you got your BFP!

I hope you’re right, I’m going to dtd for a few days and then every other day and surely I would not have missed it?

Remind me, is this your first cycle trying SMEP?

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 02/08/2019 18:01

It is @AllHopeAndNoResults. We pretty much threw everything at this cycle because of the miscarriage and being under the fertility clinic, I'm supposed to be having a hysteroscopy in 2 weeks (camera in uterus) and I was dreading it, so we just went all in and hoped for the best. Just hope it sticks x

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 18:05

@VenusStarr the funny thing is that this happens a lot, couples just about to go through a huge procedure in order to conceive or adoption...anything like that really....then bam BFP!
I’m sure it will be a sticky baby and I know we are al sending positive vibes your way

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 02/08/2019 18:33

@VenusStarr I'm am so, so pleased to hear your news. I really hope everything goes well for you going forward! The other day I wanted to say I thought what your refloxologist said was total bulls**t! As well as a bit inappropriate. Even though I might try reflexology, I think the scientific basis for it is wooly at best. I didn't say that at the time, think I was a bit more diplomatic in my message. But that's what I thought! I am 9 dpi now. Cautiously optimistic but not planning to test until I'm late.

@OP if you have the energy maybe try an extra DTD or two. But I would keep going with the plan for a while in case ovulation is still a few days or so away. It is very frustrating when you aren't sure what is happening. But if you keep going this cycle with opk, and record symptoms, hopefully you'll have a better idea for next cycle.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 18:43

@Skyla01 that’s the plan! And yeah you’re right I’ll know better for next cycle. I’m giving this SMEP and preseed and OPKs 6 months so I’m not even going to be upset when AF arrives it just good I’m getting to know the cycle

Makingawish · 02/08/2019 19:18

@AllHopeAndNoResults I said that about TTC, I said I'd give it til Christmas and not be bothered but that's a blatant lie 🙃

tinyole · 02/08/2019 19:35

Hey ladies hope you're well! Just thought I'd check in before leaving. I'm waiting to board.

So so so happy for you @VenusStarr great to see you back with such lovely news! I really hope you write that lady a very strongly worded email. It's such an emotional time already and if she isn't helping she should stay out of it instead of playing with people like that.

@AllHopeAndNoResults I would do as everyone had said and DTD next 3 nights and also keep testing. EWCM is a great sign that you're nearly there if not there already. Mine shows up a few days before I ovulate and dries up fairly promptly after.

I've done a few tests and all BFN so far. I have started to get brown light bleed a couple of hours ago but still all out of ordinary for me. I normally go straight into a big red bleed so I'm still holding out hope lol.
Plus my nipples are so tingly constantly. I've decided I'm not out till I've had to change my pad 😂😂

Have a fabulous weekend ladies and again huge congrats @VenusStarr praying for a sticky baby 👶 ✨ xxx

tinyole · 02/08/2019 19:36

Oh and hugs and baby dust to the rest of you lovely ladies, keep the hope alive!

@Carastarchild @Makingawish @Skyla01 @Carley321

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 19:56

@Makingawish I’m trying to stay positive 😂

@tinyole thank you for checking in and updating us, still sounds as though you’re in the running 🤞 hopefully the spotting is implantation? Have a safe trip and look forward to hearing an update when you’re back x

OP posts:
Carley321 · 02/08/2019 21:28

No I haven’t had chance to look yet. We have been on a long drive today and looking at my phone when travelling makes me nauseous @AllHopeAndNoResults but will give it a gander tomoz. I’m glad I’m not the only nut job about 🤣.
As for the line getting lighter that could be just because your urine isn’t as concentrated as it could be. E.g if you’d had a drink prior or if you hadn’t gone long enough between wee’s etc.

Those lines are getting there. I’ve had a BFP the same day as having a line like that. The surge can be quick. I think that last one can mean anytime now? And the CM is most definitely the fertile window kind (just from what I’ve read) I have looked so
Closely at my body the Last few months it’s crazy. I literally think I can feel everything now.

@Skyla01 there is only one class at my gym and it’s 2 hours so think it may be a little advanced for me. I go to spin and circuits with friends but none seem to be willing to attend yoga 😕.

OMG @VenusStarr that’s amazing. I am so pleased for you. You have definitely made me feel even more positive about ttc today. 💗 xxx

Thank you @tinyole still not out until AF arrives fully dressed in red 🤞. Have an amazing time away and enjoy every minute.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 21:49

@Carley321 thank you, you’ve made some good points. I think this is my time so unless the lines darken then I think Thursday I’ll be in the TWW but let’s just see how they progress.

I’m defo going to use preseed tonight and tomorrow 🤞

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 02/08/2019 22:24

What are people's experiences with preseed or similar, if you've used it? I've been reading another thread which said saliva isn't good for sperm? That's kinda what we use as a lube.... didn't realise that it might not be good for the old sperm. Might look at investing in a proper lube for next cycle. They seem expensive!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 22:42

@Skyla01 I’ve only started to use it this cycle and it seems fine, no downsides but obviously cannot comment on whether it works or not.
It’s funny because I was having this discussion with a friend earlier about saliva being basically a death sentence for sperm and sorry for tmi but since I’ve known this I get really annoyed when DP wants a ahem you know what 😂
I’ve been thinking maybe this is a contributing factor for not falling pregnant again, but then again we read so many things and I’m sure people have been having babies since the dawn of time without worrying about saliva!!
That said I’m really funny about it now 😂 is recommended trying a sperm friendly lube just in case, it can’t do no harm and yes it can be expensive and the tube is only small. I think you can get a cycle out of it but @Makingawish 😉 (preseed partner) said hers lasted a while.

OP posts:
Makingawish · 02/08/2019 23:41

@AllHopeAndNoResults preseed partner reporting for service 💁🏻‍♀️ @Skyla01 we do really quite like it! It's not sticky like conceive plus is. The tube is 40g supposedly and we've used it a whole cycle using 2.5g at a time and still have quite a bit left! It's definitely one of them things that you can only try. Evidence seems massively more so in its favour than against!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 03/08/2019 00:25

Sorry for the late notification but I’ve completed phase 1 of SMEP 😂

@Makingawish thank you partner 🤠 it is really easy to use and not sticky at all and actually does seem to be lasting us. It looks like you use a lot but actually you don’t. I stuck to 2 I think I said?

MrsRubyMonday · 03/08/2019 01:32

Hi, can I join you guys, although my situation is a bit different? You all seem so friendly and I could do with a handhold right about now. My wife and I are trying to get pregnant with a local donor, we will be doing are first insemination as soon as my next fertile window comes around. Unfortunately, I have always had problems with my periods, up until 18 months ago, I had two years of them lasting 90 days at a time, and then 5-14 days off, and then back on again. We got married halfway through that and as you can imagine, it didn't make for a fun first year of marriage, it's not exactly sexy bleeding constantly. About 18 months ago my GP decided they had done all the tests they could and everything was clear so referred me to a gyno, who took one look at all my results, said there was no real cause and prescribed norethisterone. I took that for a year which was bliss, then in January stopped taking it so we could see what my cycles were doing as the gyno mentioned that giving my body a break may be enough to kick start my cycles back to normal, and we decided to start trying for a baby. I also started taking conception vitamins, stopped some of my regular meds that aren't baby-safe, and added a couple of other supplements, and did OPKs and temping. I had two normal cycles, about 35 days, which I was so excited about. We booked to meet our donor on the 11th and 12th June which would have been my next ovulation, but my period before that never came, so we cancelled, and I stopped OPKs and temping out of frustration. He's been great and is waiting for us, but I'm getting frustrated as I'm currently on CD111. I started spotting on 13th July but brown which I never get, and it was the tiniest amount. It's been increasing slowly ever since, but with frequent breaks and days with nothing, the occasional red, back to brown, a couple of days I would have said were the light first day of a full period if it wasn't so weird beforehand but then nothing the next day. I started taking EPO again a few days ago and today seems more normal so waiting to see what tomorrow is like before I call it CD1. I've been temping again since spotting started and will OPK once I get a proper period. We won't be doing SMEP obviously but I'm hoping you ladies can understand the frustrations of a stupidly long and irregular cycle.

Skyla01 · 03/08/2019 08:46

@AllHopeAndNoResults @Makingawish I feel a bit stupid now not knowing about the saliva thing. Some lube is def a good idea when you're trying to DTD every 5 minutes! I'll stock up on some preseed for next cycle (If I need to... although now I'm worried we killed off all the sperm!!).

@AllHopeAndNoResults there are different phases?! Or do you mean you're finishes the lots of DTD part?

@MrsRubyMonday sorry to hear about your irregular cycles. That must be really frustrating. I'm surprised that there isn't an underlying cause for it all. Hope you don't mind me asking, but is there a reason your OH can't have a pregnancy?

Makingawish · 03/08/2019 09:13

@AllHopeAndNoResults congratulations on your achievement 😄👏 @Skyla01 I didn't know about saliva being a sperm killer either! I'm shocked by it tbh because I'd have thought it was the most natural lube. I know normal lube is a killer so I do think that might contribute to our first couple of cycles.

Makingawish · 03/08/2019 09:15

Hi @MrsRubyMonday sorry to hear you're having a difficult time! Have you tried using OPK's even throughout your cycle to see if even though you're bleeding pretty constantly, you might still be going through the usual cycle of ovulating midway through? I'm fortunate to have pretty regular cycles so apologies if that's a ridiculous suggestion!

Skyla01 · 03/08/2019 11:44

@Makingawish I know I'm surprised too! I've been reading a lot about ttc and had never seen that advice up till now. And here's me thinking we'd been doing everything right! At least it's something to work on for next time.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 03/08/2019 12:55

@Skyla01 don’t feel silly! It’s just one of those things that you wouldn’t necessarily know unless you were ttc. Sorry for the confusion haha I meant I’d finished day 1 of day 3!

It’s a good idea to stock up

@Makingawish yes I believe it contributed to us too 🤔

@MrsRubyMonday hello, sorry you’ve been going through such a struggle, I defo understand the long and irregular side of things and it can be very frustrating but you seem to be on a very long cycle.
The Norithistherone I’m sure has a big part to play in this, I took them once and it was awful. I don’t have any practical advice but I would just echo what the other ladies have said.
Have you looked into any natural supplements Into making cycles more regular? Also as Skyla said, is there any reason your partner can’t have a pregnancy? Hopefully this is CD10 for you 🤞

AllHopeAndNoResults · 03/08/2019 12:57
