HI

I am still very new to MN and not so good at writing conversations.

I am hoping you could give me some advice on this issue. I am not sure how long I should be off the pill before I TTC #1.

Some background; I have always been irregular and I went on the pill to sort this out. I never paid attention to cycle length. I came off the pill 2 1/2 months ago and had to wait 60 days for first AF.

my dh is worried that my body is telling me it's not ready yet. Can TTC too early cause any harm or risks to me or the baby? I do feel sad about waiting but don?t want to cause any risks.

thank you for your help in advance

I don't think it matters tbh - I came off the pill and we started TTC from day one - my AF's were all over the place for the 3 months before I conceived which I think is natural after being on the pill.

I guess just keep having regular sex as I found it impossible to work out when I was ovulating due to the irregularity of AF's and, fingers crossed, it will work out.

I actually conceived 2 weeks after the ovulation test had said I ovulated so who knows what the hell that was all about - so I think regular sex is the key (which is not a bad thing is it

I don't think that conceiving quickly after coming off the pill can cause harm. I would ave thought that if your body is not ready to get pregnant, then you won't until it is.

One thing to remember is that if your periods were irregular before you went on the pill they may well be irregular again now. I don't think there is any risk to you or a potential baby if you were to conceive, but it might take a while for you to get pregnant (my story is much the same as yours, and it took me over 6 months, I think, which isn't that long, but not as fast as I would have liked!).

Girlycm

i went on the pill like you because of irregual cycles.

I think he only reason doctors ask you to wait until you have an AF is so dating is easier.

I have to for us it took 18mths of ttc to fall for dd. Dtoping the pill my cycles were still irregular.

I hadn't had an AF for 6 months whrn i found out i was pg (about 10 weeks).

Having an irregular cycle just means it might take longer, but i don't think it will do you any harm or the baby.

Thank you all for your advice. It has put me at ease.

It is really good to hear from people in the same or similar situations. I was driving my self mad worrying (i'm a bit of a worrier) before I found MN.

It sounds like lots of reguler sex then and yes Ceebee it's definately a good thing

Not sure if these are current stories but congradulations to you all for being pg or have your dc.

ScaryHairy I keep having to remind my self that it may take time and to enjoy my self untill it does.

Don't worry - I came off the pill and got pg about a week later, no-one ever mentioned it may be detrimental to the baby & he's absolutely fine - you have nothing to worry about

fawkeoff · 28/07/2007 13:48

no theres no risk in ttc, just easier to work out ur dates when u do become pg
