Mucus plug first few weeks of pregnancy? BFP?

So this may be too much TMI but basically, I have no clue when I ovulated this month. Ever since I had the copper IUD fall out my periods have been irregular, ranging from 38-day cycles to 31-day cycles (what I'm on today actually.) I'm due my period today and usually, I can tell when it's about to come, but I haven't had any symptoms.

I went to check my cervix and it's firm, somewhat open (I can't actually tell) except the weird and gross thing is is that there seems to be a mucus-like substance filling the hole. I have NEVER had that before and it's as if it has closed off the cervix opening.

I have been getting very faint second lines on one step strips that look as if they have colour, so I'm wondering if this can be the start of a mucus plug forming? Does anyone have any experience?

I'd have no idea what my cervix felt like or looked like for that matter. I wouldn't know if there was anything covering up - surely it's too far up for us to see????

Posted too soon - sorry.

There is more mucous when you are o glaring, more likely to be that than a mucous plug.

Wait a few days if you can and test again.

I meant feeling it, not seeing it haha. I'm quite familiar with my cervix during my cycle as I had to check the IUD quite often when I had it. The mucus plug starts to form as soon as you become pregnant, hence why you tend to get an increase in discharge, and so this is why I'm wondering.

I've been checking my cervix too, @NikolaPiccola. AF is four days late, and my cervix is high and quite firm but I can feel the opening. No mucus though.

userabcname · 07/07/2019 14:38

I did notice an increase in mucous-y discharge if that helps just before my bfp? I wasn't checking my cervix though as I don't really know how! Fingers crossed for you OP.

Should have said - I've had BFNs for the past couple of days since I started taking tests.

If you're getting two lines you're pregnant congratulations! Now leave your cervix alone! Grin

NikolaPiccola · 07/07/2019 20:29

@Bezalelle It feels really weird!

@KatnissK Yes, i do have a lot of slippery discharge but it's the mucus around my cervix that's weird haha.

@legalseagull i don't really trust the strips. I've never had them look like they do now with the two lines, but I'm suspicious/ worried that they're evaps. idk. I'll just keep on testing haha

Oh I completely understand. Our local recycling centre had skips for wood, plastic and legalseagulls pregnant tests.

MN will have you believe Evaps are really common, but they're not. Two lines means pregnant. Congratulations x

@minmooch @Bezalelle @KatnissK @legalseagull just to let you guys know I got my BFP today! Hope this isn't another CP haha. Thanks all!

Oh that is a squinter haha! Mine were the same. Had to hold them up to the light to see! Massive congratulations!!!! X

NikolaPiccola · 13/07/2019 15:31

@legalseagull yeah this was afternoon urine that had only been held for around 2 hours haha. It wasn't very concentrated and I was expecting it to be negative. Imagine my surprise when I saw that line. It's much stronger in person though! Can't miss it haha. Thankyou! x
