Internet Cheapy OPKs - some questions...

Hey all,

We're currently starting the journey of TTC #2.

Last time around I spent a fortune on Clearblue opks and given I have no idea how long this will take this time, I've got a ton of cheap OPKs off Amazon.

So I did one this morning, I'm cd9 and there's a very very faint line. I'm assuming they get darker towards the LH surge? It's just a bit frustrating that there's no clear smiley face to tell me what's happening! It's not as clear cut as a pregnancy test I assume where any line = positive?

Any tips? Thanks!

Like the CB tests they pick up on the LH - but you can’t use them with FMU.

The cheapies show faint lines all the time but it’s only when the test line is as dark as the test.

I’ve recently switched to clear blue but now I’ve got a better idea of when I ovulate I think I’m going to use a mix of the two.

I use these and yes the line has to be as dark as the control line. I use an app called Premom where you can take a picture of the OPK and it tells you how close to the control line it in (and plots it all in a graph which I like!). Might be helpful for you?

@poptypingchef Thanks, I didn't realise you shouldn't use FMU - why is that? I agree the Clearblue are so much more straightforward but just trying to save some cash for now!

@lewk I'll check out that app, thanks for the recommendation

Apparently it can give a false positive- it’s the opposite of a pregnancy test. The CB ones you can but the cheapies recommend not to.

What i always did was use the cheap OPK from CD8 - CD10 and when I noticed the line getting darker I would take over with the CB so I wasnt wasting so many.
