Pregnant? Is it even possible?

Hi All

Myself and hubby haven’t exactly been trying but we haven’t been trying not to either. I have PCOS and my cycle is al over the place but hasn’t been an issue because we’re not actively trying to get pregnant.

Anyway, my hubby works away during the week and I’ve been travelling with work so we hadn’t gotten around to business in quite a while...until last Friday night. Anyway, I’ve been feeling exhausted and nauseous all week which is really unlike me. I’m at work today and decided to nip out for a test and I’m getting a positive on a First Response. Is that possible after a week? My doctor can’t see me for another week so I’m going to go to a walk in this afternoon. Can they confirm it this soon? I’m totally ignorant on these matters!

Thanks!

Unlikely to show after a week but could be possible. How strong is the line? Do you have a pic? You sure you're not pregnant from your previous cycle? Best of luck to you! X

Pawsecco · 05/07/2019 13:19

Thanks for the reply!

Here is the test. The second line isn’t as strong as the first but definitely there.

I hope it’s not a previous cycle as I’ve been away and drinking etc.

x

Wow @Pawsecco that's a super strong positive! I would hesitate to say perhaps a previous cycle I don't know what other ladies think? Only a week after DTD i would say is unlikely to be that positive. Congratulations hun x

eastview · 05/07/2019 13:25

I totally agree I would be absolutely amazed if that's from 7 days ago. Wow definitely seems like a cycle ago! Congratulations extremely strong positive ! X

Dec2019mumtobe · 05/07/2019 13:25

It wouldn't be that strong at just 7-8dpo. Mine was barely visible at that time.

It'll be from a previous cycle but don't worry too much about drinking etc. Happens to MANY mums and baby is not even attached to your blood supply for a while.

If your doctor can't see you, what about a private scan?

I'd get a Clearblue Digital to see the weeks indicator. Not always accurate but a result of 3+ would be pretty conclusive that it's from a previous cycle!

Congrats and Good luck x

eastview · 05/07/2019 13:25

Also please don't worry about anything you did before you knew you were pregnant. Extremely unlikely to affect baby this early :) x

Michellebops · 05/07/2019 13:26

Wow super positive. Congratulations.

It's unlikely that is from a week ago, however if you're not actively trying then you're not looking out for symptoms which don't start for a few weeks.

If you're able to, pick up the clearblue with weeks indicator which although is expensive would give you a better idea and then you can book in with a midwife and bypass the gp altogether ❤️

Thanks, in a bit of shock! Just did he second test and it’s the exact same result. Maybe I should get one that dates it. I won’t have any pee left by the time I get to the doctor.

I’m flying from Ireland to London to see hubby later - he’s going to freak out! In a good way I think!

I should have said my FRERs were negative at 7/8dpo. Only at 9dpo it was "hold it up to the light and squint to see it" visible

BeautifulBlaze · 05/07/2019 13:29

How exciting!!! YES get a clear blue digital dating test and you know how many weeks you are! Please keep us updated! The shock will subside! Congratulations!!!

NuffingChora · 05/07/2019 13:49

Honestly, with a test that positive I wouldn’t bother with the walk-in, they won’t be able to tell you more than you already know. Only thing would be arranging a dating scan because of your PCOS/irregular cycles, or if you need to have a GP appointment in order to be referred to midwife care (unlikely, most places are now self-referral) both of which would be better arranged with your own GP. Even a telephone appointment might be sufficient, which may be available sooner. Save yourself the time before the flight! Congratulations!

Abi58 · 05/07/2019 14:59

Congratulations! I agree that it won't be from dtd a week ago. Probably best to get a dating scan ☺️ congratulations!!

squee123 · 05/07/2019 16:58

just to say that the date indicator ones are a bit odd in that they date from conception not day of last period so 3+ is effectively 5+. Congratulations!

Michellebops · 10/07/2019 19:27

@Pawsecco how are you getting on? Did you get an appointment?

Pawsecco · 13/07/2019 22:47

Hi Ladies,
I went for a scan today and pregnancy has been dated at 8w0d which gives me a due date of 22.02.20.
Getting used to the idea now and we’re thrilled. Going to tell parents and siblings tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for the advice!
