How early can you test?

Hi, I'm on cycle day 21 with an average length cycle of 26 days and am around 6-8 days since ovulation (I track my temperature on different apps and they both say different days for ovulation) and I'm desperate to know if I'm pregnant. When is the absolute earliest I can test?

6 days before your next period is due, but only an FRER (First Response Early Result pregnancy test) can tell you this early. Standard pregnancy tests are only usually positive the day before, or the day your period is due.

You can test from the day of ovulation and then test daily if you want to. If you are pregnant, the day you’ll get a positive will vary anyway (it comes down to implantation, strength of tests and level of hormone) and you won’t have any control over that. However, there is nothing to stop you testing as early as you like. I’ve tested with FRERs when pregnant and got my first positive 9dpo or 14dpo. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My first pregnancy I got a faint positive at 12dpo and my second at 9dpo (both first response). I'm terrible at waiting to test though so I had a few negatives beforehand both times too!

Like @AllFourOfThem I used a FRER and got a faint positive 9dpo, then waited until I’d missed the first day of my (very regular) period to use the second FRER test to be sure. Used internet cheapies daily for a month following the first faint positive just out of interest and to see the lines get stronger!

I really wanna test soon but I know my fiancé will dismiss any chance of me being pregnant if I get a negative, even if I try and explain that it's possible that I tested too soon. I just wanna know but i know i have to wait
