TTC legs up after DTD or not???

Hey ladies,

I've just started this to get opinions on what everyone does. When I conceived DC1 we weren't actively trying the whole time and I didn't use OPK's or anything.

So any input or advice from ladies who are used to this TTC game or have gotten their BFP's recently would be great. Smile

Normally after DTD I just get up and go to the toilet. But since TTC no 2 this is month 6 for for me. I have lay down afterwards and sometimes even put legs in the air for 30 mins and some nights just went to sleep and left it there until the morning.

Help this TTC game is driving me insane.

I've seen some people swear by it. Don't think it would work for me though. I saw a gynecologist recently and because my uterus is tilted and she said I should try lying on my front instead. Still trying....

Good luck 🤞

Ive always done that and its always worked. For about 10 mins afterwards. Either way it cant hurt can it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sophieb15 · 03/07/2019 13:45

@VenusStarr when I had my 12 weeks scan they said something is tilted I can't remember whether they said uterus or cervix I wonder is that my issue 🤔 how long are you trying?

I've always done it. I don't know if it worked but it was a bit of fun and gave me and DH a good laugh.

I don't think that you necessarily need your legs up but definitely don't go to the toilet afterwards. Leave as much of the 'stuff' in there as you possibly can until morning!

We did it and got pregnant 2nd month of trying. Also used preseed.

It makes no difference, the semen that comes out afterwards doesn’t have any viable sperm in it anyway. So you’re not keeping anything of value by not going to the toilet afterwards.

As PPs have said though it’s not as if it would hurt, I just personally can’t go to sleep unless I’ve been to the toilet last thing!

Worked for me.

VenusStarr · 03/07/2019 14:23

@Sophieb15 been ttc 18 months. Did conceive on cycle 16 but had a mmc at 9 weeks.

Currently in my tww and not doing very well distracting myself!! 😊

A weird one but with this baby I tried for a year nothing happened then one night after dtd I fell asleep with it left in as I was so drunk and I got my BFP around 9 days later I'm now 13 weeks X

VictoriaBun · 03/07/2019 14:29

Wow . Do you all get up after and wash then ? I must be a minger

Sophieb15 · 03/07/2019 15:48

Thanks for everyone's input. It's hard to know for the last 6 months I have been but it hasn't worked so wondering was just been crazy my OH has a great laugh off me when i put legs in the air Grin

@VenusStarr Oh the TWW is the worst I'm only on CD 7 today so another bit to go as I O between CD 15 -18. Sorry to hear about your MCC. Are you TTC no 1? My work is quiet at the moment so I'm found the last TWW the worst. But I think as long as you do everything you can each month there is nothing more you can do.

@VictoriaBun LOL I don't get up and wash I just go to the toilet and wipe. I wash the next morning. We only DTD at night as I have a 3 1/2 year old already.

That's actually another thread I could start DTD during the day or at night for a BFP hahaha

@VenusStarr that's so interesting, we are currently on cycle 10 and I always put my legs up but I've got a tilted uterus, maybe I should lie on my front instead!

AuroraMJ · 03/07/2019 16:03

Hi! I just got my BFP and I did the whole legs up in the air thing for about 10 minutes after! Normally I'd run to the toilet straight away too but I didn't this time, I left it as long as I could.

I was told by by my gyno that it's best to not to pee straight after so I followed her advice and it seems to have worked!

VenusTiger · 03/07/2019 16:21

You’re “supposed” to lie completely flat for 10 minutes minimum as the shape of our pelvis means that raising your legs is keeping the sperm pooled lower down - bit like kinking a hose iyswim.
Also, any ‘back flow’ is just semen (juice) and not sperm. So don’t worry if any comes out.

Moongirl10 · 03/07/2019 18:42

Interesting! Just going into cycle 3 and will try this. May as well just give it a go!
