TTC straight after D&C

Just wondering if anyone has found any reliable info on this? I had D&C two weeks ago, the bleeding had stopped (just a bit of brown blood left which I guess is "old") and I think I might be ovulating. Would it be foolish to TTC? My cervix was painful up until maybe 5 days ago, should I give it more time to heal?

Thanks for any advice..

Firstly sorry for your loss.

We started ttc approx 2 weeks after d&c surgery. The doctors told us to begin trying as soon as we felt up to it. We were gentle but definitely no pain, and usually dome brown "old" blood came away, this happened a couple of times.

I naively believed I would be pregnant straight away as I knew people this had happened to.

Have you had a negative test yet? Mines took 8 weeks before negative which you can imagine was disappointing and upsetting.

Once I got my period I started using opks to check for ovulation. I'd never used them before but tbh wished I used them following the miscarriage to see if I'd ovulated before I got my cycle back.

Good luck ❤️

Thanks Michelle and I'm sorry for yours too.

No, I haven't done a pregnancy test so I guess that's a good place to start. Will research OPKs too as I haven't used them before (fell pregnant on the first month of trying last time and thought i was so lucky. Ha Hmm)

Thanks again

Just use cheapies from pound shop or amazon. They do the same job and not as painful on the purse.

Lots of advice in here using them ❤️

Sorry to hear of your loss. My story sounds similar to yours. Ttc month one and fell pregnant, ended in MMC and a D&C. We waited until I had a proper period after and I had had a negative pregnancy test. It took 5 months and I was tracking my BBT and taking pregnancy vitamins, but here I am. 32 weeks pregnant.

Try when you feel ready. All the best for you.

Hi! I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby on 10th of May and had a d&c too. I was told by my Dr to wait at least one period to try again, although I'm sure this is different for each person. Have you spoken to your doctor? Takes a while for your body to get back into a routine (my only period since only lasted 3 days) so don't be too disheartened if it doesn't happen straight away. I'm due to ovulate any day and we are going to try again. It's so stressful. Best of luck to you xx

Oh that's wonderful Mondayblues7, and thank you eastview (fingers crossed for us).

Someone on another thread said their consultant had recommended waiting till after the first period so that the womb lining is definitely thick enough and I think that sounds sensible - it's just frustrating when I think I'm ovulating now!

Just did a pregnancy test and it came up negative so that's a start I guess.

Hi, any updates? Had my d&c 2 days ago and want to Ttc asap :) did your pregnancy turn out okay?

Jordie24 · 10/01/2021 20:33

Hi I saw this and I thought I have to comment on my experience, so my first pregnancy is 2012 sadly ended in mc, I then had a d&c to remove everything, I then had sex 10 days later only one time (I know we probably should of waited a little longer) but then I found out I was pregnant again. And now she’s nearly 8 :) xx

That is so wonderful to hear, thank you for responding and congratulations :)
I think the advice to wait doesn’t make much sense and it is just when your body is ready, whenever that is. Thank you again for sharing, this has given me so much hope.
