Ovulation on Cd18

Daft question really, but....

I had a positive Opk this morning and this afternoon, first this cycle so I want to say I'm about to ovulate. But is it normal to be as late as CD18 (well, 19 I suppose of the surge is just before actual ovulation), or does it means slim chances of conception? I'm also don't have egg white CM at the moment, did a bit this morning.

Last month my positive one was CD 11....quite a difference!

What's your cycle length? It will likely mean your period will be late this cycle. The time between ovulation and af is always roughly the same, average is 14 days but can be less (I come on 13 days later so have a 12 day luteal phase).

Have you recently come off hormonal contraception?

Pinkstars2501 · 01/07/2019 07:52

Hi, usually between 28-30 days. Once it was really short, and once or twice really long. But I think those times coincided with one being after a long haul holiday and the other in a stressful time.

No I came of the implant two years ago.

I think your cycle will be longer this month if you're ovulating later. Was last month's af on time? Just trying to work out what your luteal phase is.

Actually now you mention it no it was early. By about 5 days, but it was a normal painful one (endo).

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy end of March, so I'm wondering if my cycle is a bit messed up because of that. All my late or early ones have been since that, but in-line with my normal symptoms. I wouldn't have thought that could mess it up too much though?

It could be messed up because of the laparoscopy. I had an hsg a few weeks ago and my cycle was only 22 days (started spotting on cd21).

It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on. But of you've had ewcm I'd dtd just in case it is you're ovulating now.

Are you under a fertility clinic? I am, got a hysteroscopy in August then back to see the consultant in September.

We did Grin gotta cover ourselves lol.

We're having our first appointment at the clinic in a few weeks. Husband will have sperm check, not sure what they'll do for me. They could see any of my tubes/ovaries etc at the lap due to adhesions.

I used to ovulate on CD20. We’re not machines (despite GPs steadfastly testing for ovulation on CD14!).

Pinkstars2501 · 01/07/2019 14:39

True!

You just read so much that "normal" is around cd14 (I think I read) and you need enough time before ovulation for the egg to be good enough or enough time after for it to implant and stick....before you even get to whether dtd every day is best or of the sperm needs a day between each try. So bloody confusing!

Hope all goes well at your clinic appointment @Pinkstars2501. Glad you managed to dtd too 🤞
